qn is not specific. do u mean after getting license or before?. Once u get license, u'll feel comfortable from inside. If u can drive in the city without hitting, getting hit, turn around the corners while people r crossing!, these things wiil certainly help a lot. driving on a highway is easy...... str8 road ahead....but even when u r learning, at one point of time, u would feel the urge to drive alone. thats the exact point u shld do a double job. go for driving exercise in the morning and try to drive alone afterwards. this way, ur confidence level would increase and by the time u get license, u can certainly drive "solo" or take ur duet also withj u.....

Its about gaining self confidence, Making yourself believe you can go solo and when you really do, you gain confidence.
I had this questions when I was done with driving school. I took a friend with me for my first drive. I always had fear if I would bang into something or What if happens??? fear. Once the ride was fine, I drove alone and that was it.
Finally it comes naturally, as baby learn walking by trying and gaining confidence so does this.

i'm taking driving lessons myself...and i have that question too...i feel like the more hours of practice i have under my belt, the more comfortable i am with making decisions to change lanes, speeding up and etc....
at the beginning, my instructor would give me instructions or tips on what to do, but increasingly, he just sits there and chats with me...so i take that as a sign that i'm not doing anything wrong or anything that he feels that i still need improvement...
i've never driven before...and during the first couple hours of my lessons, my instructor had to use the brake on his side a couple times coz i wasn't braking hard enough or something...but as time goes by, he didn't have to any more. i suppose that means i'd be okay by myself...
so hope that helps a little bit...

30 years ago I drove illegally 'cos no one I knew who had a driving licence would sit in with me ( I wasn't that bad they lived a long way away) I do not reccomend it 'cos if you get caught they will throw the book at you and if you have an accident you will never forgive yourself, I was lucky.
Once yoy get your clutch control if you are not driving on automatic and you can take the car onto roads you don't like and feel reasonably confident at junctions you slightly fear you are ready

Trust me, you will definately have butterflies flying in your tummy, but you have to believe in yourself, and that can be done once you have thouroughly went thru the driving lessons, so you can be self confident and take ur vehicle out on your own...your first week will be like you are always on the edge and expecting something to happen, but as time goes by, driving will be like a natural instinct to you....
Goodluck.......

In the US usually you get a State reg. book to study. Then a person can take a test to receive a learners permit. A parent or guardian usually must accompany you while you learn. When you feel competent, you can take a road test.

When your accident rate falls to no more than 3 per week, you are ready.
