Mageda(mgeda) it is not a hill it is land that is located in Palestine. Don't believe the books written by those Jews. There is no Armageddon. This is Jewish fiction.

The word "Armageddon" comes from "Har megiddo", which means "valley of Megiddo". In OT times it was a place where refuse was tossed and burned.
You will get at least two different explanations of what "Armageddon" represents; the Catholic Church and most Protestant Churches go by the pre-trib theory which places this battle in a real place in the Middle East. However, this is not scriptural. The whole pre-trib theory was devised by two Jesuit priests during the Counter-Reformation to take the heat off the Vatican. You see, it had been preached for hundreds of years since Christ that the Vatican was the Beast power (antichrist) of Revelation. So they dreamed up another theory that made the rise of the Antichrist in the distant future, and a single individual, and that the Battle of Armageddon would be over a small piece of real estate in the Middle East. They then theorized that Jesus would come down to this sinful world and rule in a temporal fashion!
The Bible tells us something quite different. When He returns, all the saved of all ages will be resurrected to life and caught up together with the living saved, and all the wicked living will be slain by the brightness of His Coming. The wicked dead will remain dead for 1,000 years (this is the Millennium), during which time Satan will be imprisoned on this dark, lifeless planet with no one to tempt. At the end of the 1,000 years, the wicked dead will all be resurrected to judgment in their old, mortal bodies. Now Satan will be able to tempt them once again, and he leads them in an attack against the Holy City (New Jerusalem) which will come down from Heaven and land on the Mount of Olives, flattening it. This battle is the real "battle of Armageddon". When they try to attack, fire will rain down from Heaven and consume them all. This is what "hellfire" is. They will not be tortured forever, but be immediately consumed.
The only church I know of that subscribes to this interpretation is the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, because they believe in letting the Bible interpret itself, and going by Scripture and Scripture alone. Most other protestant churches go by what is popular or by what the Catholic Church teaches. They have succumbed to error and apostasy.
This interpretation of "Armageddon" also fits the Hebrew definition I described in the first sentence. The "rubbish" will be burned up here.

Armegeddon is the final war, announced prophetically in the Bible.
Literally, har Megiddo, is a reference to the Valley of Megiddo where the Town of Megiddo lies in Israel. Better know as the Jezreel Valley, it is a real place where the final war of this Earth will be fought.
The Valley spans across the northern portion of the disputed West Bank between Mt. Carmel and Nazareth, and across into Israel proper, south and west of the Sea of Galilee.
Not surprisingly, it is also home to the largest air force base of the Israeli Defense Forces.
It is a very real place, in a very real country. Israel is already in a war for survival, and it will culminate in that Valley.

It's Megiddo, actually. Christians believe in it because it is in the Bible and sadly many Christians believe the Bible to be actual truth. The fact is the Bible (Old Testament) was written by Hebrews (Jews) who lived in that region.

They were aware of the history behind the 'Hill of Megiddo,' which was itself a hot spot in historical time. The Egyptians, Hebrews, Assyrians, Palestinians, Greeks, Romans, and many other peoples all fought in that same spot. There were a dozen major battles on that hill during antiquity, and in fact, the first recorded battle: between Thutmose III of Egypt and the tribes of Palestine, was fought in the 15th cent. BC at Megiddo.

Thus the authors of the Bible took this to mean it had some sort of symbolic importance and that the last great battle would probably take place there. Again, the Bible is symbolic, not literal. Even most of the ancient readers would have understood this to be true.

If Armageddon is a name of place, a little town like Hell in Norway or France, I'd believe in it.

Hey there Croweye,
Yes, its real... its prophecied of in the Bible. Based on this, some might find it objectionable but when one stops to consider just how many of the prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled, in my opinion, it is something you can bank on. If I am not mistaken, it is the last great battle on earth where many armies (200 million men strong, total) of the world come against Isreal and culminates with Jesus' return in Isreal's defense and the total destruction of the opposition.

This battle, the battle of Armageddon is going on right at this very second between the forces of darkness and the forces of light; holiness vs unholiness, the saved vs the unsaved, light vs darkness; God vs Satan.

It will

NOT

be fought in the future but is going on right now.

This world will end someday but it will be in a few billion years when our sun starts to die and expands to engulf the earth, not in a couple hundred years by some vengeful deity.
