Buddhism is a dharmic religion and a philosophy.[1] Buddhism is also known as Buddha Dharma or Dhamma, which means the "teachings of the Awakened One" in Sanskrit and Pali, languages of ancient Buddhist texts. Buddhism was founded around the fifth century BCE by Siddhartha Gautama, hereafter referred to as "the Buddha".
Christianity is a monotheistic[1] religion centered on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.[2] Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God and the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament, and they see the New Testament as the record of the Gospel that was revealed by Jesus. With an estimated 2.1 billion adherents in 2001, Christianity is the world's largest religion.[3] It is the predominant religion in Europe, the Americas, Southern Africa, the Philippines and Oceania.[4] It is also growing rapidly in Asia, particularly in China and South Korea.[5]
Christianity began as an offshoot of Judaism,[6] and includes the Hebrew Bible, known to Christians as the Old Testament, within its canon.[7] Like Judaism and Islam, Christianity is classified as an Abrahamic religion (see also, Judeo-Christian).[8][9]
The name "Christian" (Greek Χριστιανός Strong's G5546), meaning "belonging to Christ" or "partisan of Christ",[10] was first applied to the disciples in Antioch, as recorded in Acts 11:26.[11] The earliest recorded use of the term "Christianity" (Greek Χριστιανισμός) is by Ignatius of Antioch.[12]

Absolutely. I am a Christian who used to be a Zen Buddhist! What I hope people will realize that Buddhism is more of a philosophy, a way of life; not a religion. I find it possible to still adhere to some Buddhist principles AND be a Christian. Let's see, Zen Buddhist principles/tenets/precepts that match up with Christianity: Not harming other living things, Do not cause harm to other people, No stealing / thievery Avoid sexual immorality Don't lie/slander/gossip Don't be mean or hurtful to others when speaking Recognize the gift of the body- don't pollute it (drugs, alcohol, gluttony, sloth, etc.) Importance of the soul, Respect of life, Each person is a unique individual and should be respected, Meditation is important, Growing in knowledge is important, Sow goodness in all things, Stay away from evil things/behaviors, Choosing harmful natures to the self will destroy the self, Every action has a consequence, The golden rule (do unto others...), Be generous, See the good in others and focus on that, do not point out any "bad," See others as your equals, Do not give into anger. Of course there are also great differences... Peace. :)

At the very root Buddhism believes the individual is a tiny part of a whole that makes up the Divine Universe and in 'non-self'. At the root of Christianity is the individual and their supreme importance and that the Universe must bend to this individual's will. Even the very face of 'God' resembles this individual.

Christianity is a system of theology with a set of doctrines. Buddhism is a system of practical philosophy with a set of moral precepts that ostensibly will lead to enlightenment if they are adhered to.
