I was 250 when I was 15. I lost 35 lbs when I started playing soccer again. I also started lifting weights, so I was kinda sexy back then. Oh, and that was lost 35 lbs while growing 4 inches.

It is WONDERFUL that you want to get in control of your body. And summer is a great time to do so , no school pressures.

Please listen to me, do this slowly and don't try to be a NEW look by the time school rolls around! Step up your exercise...go to the pool and horseplay with your little siblings! Ride your bike to the store! Walk with your mom every am! Jump rope with your sis or neighbor girl! Just MOVE!!! Limit your time on the computer, tv/ game systems.

Eat a little less junk - instead of the whole bag of Dorrito's in one sitting - eat 1/2! Instead of 6 Oreo's, eat 3! Instead of two bowls of ice cream - eat 2 1/2 bowls!!! Change whole milk to 2%, then later to skim. Read up on healthy eating....you didn't get large over night! You can't get it off over night. And you, unfortunately, will probably always have to be careful, so make good habits now!

Good Luck!

You are going to do great! See if there is a yahjoo support group for teens that want to be healthier.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Vigorous walking is a start. Swimming is also a good way to burn calories, especially with the warm weather approaching.
