The debate the early Christians had was over whether Jesus had a physical body, or was just a spiritual being who appeared to have a body. It goes back to Greek philosophy that taught that everything in this world has a spiritual conterpart. It was taught by some that Jesus was the "spiritual conterpart" to man, and not a real human being.

So the gospel writers take to the time to establish that Jesus was born, he did not just appear, and that he grew to adulthood like an normal person. They showed that he became hungry, tired, slept, sweated, etc. All to help establish that he was a physical being.

After his resurrection, they confirm that he still had a physical body that displayed the wounds of the crucifixion. He could be touched. He ate food with them on three occasions. All to show that he had a physical body, and was not just a spiritual being.

As a human, Jesus was subjected to the same physical limitations as anyone else. He was limited to one place at a time. He was subjected to all the same temptations as anyone else. And he was limited to prayer, fasting, faith, etc to perform his miracles. He did not have his divine powers while on earth. Everything he did, he did with the same resources available to any other human.

But most inportantly, since sin entered the world through a human being, it had to be another human being who ended it. IT had to be someone who was totally human, yet succeeded in living a sinless life. He then had to give that physical life to pay the penalty so that others could live. That was his purpose for becoming human.

Hebrews 2:14,15 puts it in those words: Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

See how brainwashed people are! Jesus was not 100% human. True humans cannot evade a sinful life no matter what and how. This is because true humans have a human spirit. Jesus was not completely human, he did not have a human spirit. He may have suffered our Earthly problems, but he did not suffer our human problems. For example, he had to work to survive, but he did not wrestle with the temptation of stealing. Although I think its unfair, anything he suffered on this Earth was unjustified, whereas somehow the things we suffer on this Earth are repayment of our original sin. He is God's spirit in the flesh. He was connected with God at birth and because of his immense connection he was unable to sin no matter how badly he was tested. In essence it was God who defeated satan, not man. It is impossible for man to defeat satan without God's help. Imagine a teacher who passes a failing student because he tried his hardest. That is the relationship between man and God. Jesus, however, is the exception to the rule and therefore, is not 100% human. People who talk of Jesus being 100% human are brain washed and their acclaimed knowledge has zero value. Ill let others answer the other half of this question since it not as disputed.

Jesus was 100% human and 100% God. Read the New Testament to see what Jesus is all about. That is if you truly want an answer.

Jesus was NOT 100% human, he was born of a human woman but his father is God so he was NEVER 100% human.
His purpose on earth was to bring the good news, or gospel, to all who would listen and accept it. He was truly sent to live and teach us how to have eternal life and died so that HUMANS would not have to die the eternal death!

Chromosomes from Mary make him 100% human
and Chromosomes from HS make him 100% Deity.
His human purpose was to relate to mankind and die
for their sins while remaining perfect and sinless and
to instruct on certain behaviors (show an example)
and to have us tell the entire world about what he did
so that they too can be saved.

Just to take a stab at the mythology and relating it to a possible realistic and humanistic point of view: He probably brought the ideology of the One God religion to the forefront in a very rebelious time. He was a part of the people, spoke to the people and represented the people who were against the Roman supression of that time. He was a religious and social martyr. The right person; at the right time; at the right place.

He was 100% human and 100% God.

He had every human temptation we had, every human bodily flaw, every human emotion we had, but he was God at the same time. He had control over nature, over his temptations, over everything.

His human purpose was to die on the Cross to redeem us from eternal death, and to offer us a way to Heaven.
