Try a clarifying shampoo to remove build up from styling products & minerals in your water. Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo is my favorite.

Then you can follow up w/ a deep conditioning hair mask. Joico K-Pak is a good one & it can be used as a daily conditioner too.

You can also make a hair mask by mashing 1 or 1/2 avocado & applying to your hair. Leave it on for 15 minutes & rinse off w/ cool water.

For more conditioning try this recipe.
Shiny Soft Hair Treatment
In a small bowl, mash and combine: 1 avocado (1/2 for shorter hair)
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon olive oil

Well.. if you go to a professional hair stylish she can do your hair, maybe give you a different type of straightener or Even if you go only once a month they can condition it so that it is more manageable and you can do your hair yourself. Shampoos and conditioners can help minimally, but it sounds like you need to use in between products to make your hair softer.

A good brand to use is Soft & beautiful products. There is a very good spray oil called botanicals that is great for hair because it makes it soft as soon as you put it on. Organic root stimulator is also a GREAT brand that makes Olive Oil products and can make hair softer and more healthy.

Since you have dry hair you always must keep it moisturized. If you blow dry your hair make sure you use a comb attatchment to make it straighter and a serum such as biosilk(or the generic version of it) to ensure it isn't applying straight heat with no barrier to the hair. Thick hair is manageable if you find a routine that is best for you. Hope any of this is able to help.

Enjoy!

cut it to neck length. Then maybe you should try Tresseme conditioner. Leave it in and read something or whatever in the bathroom. The longer you leave it in, the softer and smoother your hair will be.
