Answer with the truth, nothing about him being so called gay, or Jr is more popular, him being better looking and being cool. I respect Jr and I like him but answer the question without mentioning any of the above. See if you can do it and check out the stats, they don't lie. What will make him win if he races for another team, he didn't with DEI?

Junior is not and never will be as good as Jeff Gordon. Jeff Gordon has won 78 races in 485 starts (16.08 winning percentage), while Junior has won 17 races in 267 starts (6.37 winning percentage.

OK, lets say for argument that each drivers quits after 700 starts. Simple calculations project that Jeff Gordon finishes with 112 victories which would be second all-time. The same calculations project that Dale, Jr. would finish with 45 victories. 45 race wins is nothing to sneeze at but at the same time that number is way too low for a driver to be considered one of the all-time greats.

Jeff Gordon already has four championships. How many does Jr. have? None. I think that Gordon may win one or maybe two more. I don't think Jr. has it in him to win one.

Well I will open with al of the drivers that race in to Nextel Cup are about equal. The biggest differance is the equipment and crews. Gordon (which I hate not because of his driving it has more to do with his personality) won all of his championships and most of his races when Ray Evernham Was his crew chief since he left Gordon has been more average and less superman. Jr. ( who is my fav ) has raced for DEI since he started and none of the DEI cars have been consitant which is the trick I remember when Rusty Wallace won the most races in a season and lost the championship to Dale Sr. So the bottom line is as much as people don't want to admit the cars and crews win the races and championships more so than the drivers. If you put 90% of the drivers in the hendrick team in the 48 or 24 or 5 they would win also.

I'm not a Jr. fan and I dont think he is better then Jeff Gordon, never has and never will be. He is just racing based on his father's name. I admit though he is a funny guy and is really nice and fun to watch and have nothign against him. I just like my driver Jeff Gordon alot better because I just love him to death. Jr. is good looking but that shouldn't have anything to do wiht racing stats. I mean seriously come on, I think that wins and championships should be considered and I think its the equipment that might change his ability to drive as he does have that and talent it jsut hasnt been shown recenlty. I respect Jr. as well and he does some pretty cool things just needs a better team. Go #24!!!!

This is hilarious. So all the Jr. fans say that the team formed by the great Sr. gives Jr. poor equipment? Crap cars come out of the Garage Mahal? What other excuses will we hear as to why Jr. is not as good as Gordon??? I remember "It is all Ray, Jeff is not that good" Then Evernham left. And then what happened? Gordon wins a title with Robbie Loomis, who came from and returned to Petty. How many titles did Loomis win with Petty Enterprises? The same as I won. Hey, come to think of it, I have as many titles as Jr. and as many Cup road course wins... and wins at Indy... ALL ZERO. I just had to comment about the Jr. fans saying that his equipment was crap. Hell, Jr. could not even win ROTY, even Mike Skinner and Geoff Bodine did that. Face it, Gordon is better than Jr. AND RIGHT NOW, WHOSE CREW CHEIF IS SUSPENDED FOR CHEATING? So yes, the 8 team is "dam" cheaters.

Even with sub par equipment he has still managed to finish in the Top 5, three out of the last 5 years.

If you took the 24 or the 48, painted it red and stuck a big 8 on it, Junior would be a 5 time champ.

If you put an Earnhardt, any Earnhardt, in the best equipment that can only mean one thing. Win after win after win.......ad infinitum.

It's just a fact of nature.

Another fact of nature is Earnhardts always hit their racing prime after age 35. Ralph was king of the hill on short tracks and dirt when he died at 40. Senior was in Championship form at nearly 50.

Jeffrey Earnhardt, at 17 is the youngest racing Earnhardt currently, so I figure we got another 30 or 35 years to equal or surpass anything Gordon can do.

It's predicatable like the sunrise.

What will make Jr win with Hendrick and Gibbs is putting talent with talent. A good driver in a good machine makes all the difference. Ask Michael Waltrip what's the difference now vs in the #15 NAPA car when Teresa minded her own business and just showed up in Victory Lane at Daytona.

All Nascar fans have their favorite drivers, and all fans think their driver is the best. Regardless of who my favorite driver is, Junior is just doing what he thinks is best for his future. Whether or not he wins more with a different teams remains to be seen. Next season will tell the story. I do believe that Eury Jr isn't anywhere near the crew chief Eury Sr was. Winning in Nascar is a team effort. It's not all driver... it's the entire organization.

I've always said that you can't really compare the two. Jeff has been driving in cup almost twice as long as Dale. I also truly believe its not who is the best driver, but who has the best equipment... Dale has never really had championship caliper equipment and Jeff certainly has...

If you go on stats alone then sure, Gordon blows him out of the water. But really, this question is unfair to Dale Jr. at least until it gets later in his career...

It's all of that and non of the above. I like Jr and Jeff because I am just gravitated towards them.
I like Kenny Wallace, He's funny and endearing.
I like Jeff Burton, I think he's an awesome driver
I can't stand Matt Kenseth, he drives a Ford and he's going bald and has a butt on his chin. (Sorry Michie)
Kurt Bush looks like a Pen!$ with two ears. Sure he's trying to clean up his image NOW, but the damage has already been done.
Ryan Newman is my middle man, I like him, but can't stand to look at his "no neck".....
my point is I like and respect drivers for a variety of reasons, some of my drivers are doing really good and some aren't but I'm still a fan.

So this whole Gordon vs Earnhardt is just a big waste of time to me.
