And the 4 year old came up missing, do you think you would be in jail, or do you think you'd be shaking hands with the Pope?

Or am I missing something here? Did I just read the story wrong?

As much as I can't stand child protective services, I think they would be quite useful here.

To "Mom to Foster Children": My problem with CPS is this... there are too many documented cases where CPS ignores children in need. They do, however, have a good track record of breaking up happy, healthy families.

It all sounds like paranoid crap until it happens to you or someone you know.

I think it's ridiculous. I hope they find the child, but those parents would have been charged here with neglect.

But because it's the child of some upper crust British doctors who apparently could afford a fancy vacation, but couldn't spare a few bucks for a babysitter while they ate dinner...

If you want to go out alone, leave the kids WITH GRANDPARENTS or something.

And by the way, is it me or did they look like they didn't think they did anything wrong in the press conference they held after the child went missing? They professed they were "good parents". Good parents don't leave a toddler to babysit the younger siblings in a hotel room while you go off to have an adult dinner across the street.

These people weren't parents. They were people who were given a beautiful little girl, and they treated her like a little puppy you leave behind when you go out.

I'd be ashamed and apologizing and looking for my child, not shaking hands with the Pope, mingling with celebrities, etc.

Edit: BTW, I know this is long, but this is akin to someone in the States leaving their baby in the car during the summer, having the child die, and then expecting to get off because they're good parents, and it was just a slight mistake. Hopefully they find the child in this case, but they don't deserve to get her back - she deserves to be adopted by someone who would care for her.

I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one who thinks something is wrong with this picture. In the United States they would have already swooped up the other children and be investigating the parents. I wonder if that has happened? In the story I read it said the parents went downstairs to a restaurant which makes absolutely no sense to me. If their children were sleeping and they were hungry, would they not have ordered room service? And how did someone get into their room to snatch the 4 year old? and why not the twins?
Just watch, we'll hear something more in the future and this story will have changed.

Don't even get me started on these useless parents. Who in their right minds goes out for dinner and leaves there 3 children alone in the first place?? Then they turn it into a media frenzy and act like they are enjoying every bit of it, whilst leaving their other 2 children in a creche. If I lost one the other 2 would not leave my side. Grrrrrrrrrr they should be jailed for neglect, makes me seeth. Ok rant over!!

how could they have enjoyed their meal knowing that their children are alone in a hotel in a foreign country... it just does not sound right... and what is the Pope going to do? Show the pic to some priests?

Hope she is found safe.

Not saying that it was right or wrong but I heard that the parents were in the same building (like downstairs or something) getting dinner, and the mother kept going upstairs to check on them. Also it was suppose to be a really safe place that they were staying in....I just feel sorry for that little girl and the rest of the family, hopefully they find her and she is alive and unharmed!

Its true. I am the foster parent to a friends daughter because the child services felt it was unnecessary to get the truth so he is in prison. In answer to your actual question. If I left any of my young kids like that I would be in jail.

I don't know what the laws are there but here in California, there would be an instigation and any remaining children may be removed. I can't believe that anyone would leave children that young unattended. The sad part is that it's the child that is paying for their selfishness.

No you read it right. They should be doing something with the parents. The 2yo twins should be in child protective services and the parents in some kind of jail. They were neglecting to protect their kids.

Why can't you stand child protective services? If it weren't for them, do you know how many drug addicted children we would have born on a day to day basis...not to mention the beatings these children sometimes endure?

If my child went missing I would not be out parading around my sorrow. I would make the necessary public appeals to find my daughter and then spend my time in private. It's like they are basking in all this media attention. If you ask me I think they did something with that little girl themselves.
