As a witch I believe in magick (note the spelling) which we (Wiccans and Pagans) believe is energy that we gather from around us to help effect the outcome of something we need or want. I always tell people that to get to know what energy feels like, just think of the feeling you get at a concert or a large church gathering. We draw on that energy and we apply it to the outcome that we are looking for.
Magick is a ritual form of prayer which we build a positive outcome by stimulating all of our senses to show us the way to that outcome. We can't or don't ever make someone else do anything that they wouldn't normally do. We coax things to happen. Say we want to call love to us. We take ritual bathes, surround ourselves with scents and beauty (flowers or other visual stimuli), we wear beautiful clothing... basically we provide such a mass of positive stimuli that we shout what we want. Magick is our version of that little black dress!
Hope this helps.

Personal opinions about easily tested things are kinda invalid. That's like asking for my personal opinion about gravity. Magic doesn't work, period. Every test ever failed. If you think you can do magic, this guy will give you a million bucks for proving it. He's been around with the money for more than 30 years and no one has ever come close to winning it - because there's no such thing as magic. http://www.randi.org

I'm a chaos mage. I don't believe in magic. But I understand some of my compatriots have done summonings of Lord Spongebob Squarepants that were quite efficacious. They admit they're full of it though.
Does it matter if you believe or disbelieve the mode of operation, if the end result is the same?

As an atheist, I don't believe in it or any other supernatural thing. When I was five, I thought I could float on a carpet like in the Aladdin stories. I was wrong...I was a child and thought as a child. Now I am an adult and have moved on to reason.
