A U.S. Navy chaplain who prayed "in Jesus' name" as his conscience dictated is being ejected from the military service "in retaliation" for his victorious battle to change Navy policy that required religious rites be "non-sectarian

As President, Thomas Jefferson not only signed bills which appropriated financial support for chaplains in Congress and in the armed services, but he also signed the Articles of War, April 10, 1806, in which he:

"Earnestly recommended to all officers and soldiers, diligently to attend divine services."

This is how the vitrol of the PC crowd is trying to change everything that was great about the United States

This is far bigger than the Military. Jesus said we would be hated for my name sake.

divine - godlike, heavenly (Websters Dictionary)

How can anybody be expected to anything other than what is right. This is what is to be expected of a Christian.

The chaplain done what is right, even though he went against orders. The Bible says we ought to obey God rather than men.

In a Muslim section doing so interior the process the line is probably no longer precisely sensible, yet i've got by no ability heard of each physique forbidding chaplains from doing so in church or inner maximum devotions.

But it wasn't a divine worship service where he made his remarks--it was a memorial service, and those who complained about his sermon included members of the deceased's FAMILY.

He was also court-martialed fora) wearing his uniform while attending a press conference and protest about his PERSONAL political and religious views, and b) for disobeying a direct order not to do so (this is how the military works--you are given orders, and you obey them, or you accept the consequences)

Perhaps next time you might want to check into a less biased source than Worldnet.

1) This was not at a Christian service, but at a rally in front of the White House.

2) He had been given a direct order by a superior officer not to do what he did.

If this had been a mullah in the army who had done this and not gotten discharged you would be first in line to complain how the army was supporting Islam.

When are you going to realise that if you do not want a Muslim America, or a Hindu America, or a Jewish America that on the same principal you can not have a Christian America.

You may try, but you will fail. That is what is great about the United States.

My thought is that I have heard this story before, its actually quite old.

The Chaplain knew that it was against the rules to do that when he signed up, he did so anyways.

My question to you would be if their was a Chaplain that said in the name of the prophet Mohamed let us pray. Would you be fine with it?

as a former marine i can tell you that the military offers religious services to all of it's members and offers them in all religious forms and sects. what i am wondering is why you aren't all in an uproar over the fact that the only religious symbol the U.S. government won't pay for for a fallen soldiers head stone is the pagan and Wicca symbols. i will never understand the christian need to feel like a martyr

Thomas Jefferson was an atheist, he was only trying to appease the others. When I was in the Navy, I never had use for any chaplin, except to go to church to get out of duty

Read some of the other things Jefferson said about your religion.

After you get over the shock, you'll stop quoting him to defend Christianity.

And then read what Madison and the rest had to say.

You'll never quote a Founding Father again.

They were filled with contempt for people like you.

So as a Christian it doesn't upset you that we are in a war, you are bothered by a chaplain being fired for showing serious disrespect to non-christian soldiers.
Saving a rude chaplains job is the fight you wish to fight in this war? Huh.
