I'm 56 years old, and it was only two years ago that I 'finally' gave up most of my stuffed animals ... mainly because we were moving to a smaller apartment with less 'storage/display' room. I think that most women would consider getting a teddy bear or other stuffed animal as a gift as being 'very sweet' ... and while I no longer have any 'teddy bears' I have a nice collection of 'stuffed hedgehogs' and 'stuffed turtles' (to say nothing of all the 'figurines, and a 'real live hedgehog' for my pet) and I still 'love getting them' from people who know me and love me.

It's sweet and I'd appreciate the gesture, but teddy bears aren't really something I'd like as a gift. I'm more about practical items, but that's just me.
