im 34 disabled and would like to work part time

Check with the lawyer who helped get you on SSI disability. The people at the SSI office are nice I'm sure, but your lawyer is paid to know for sure. We primarily deal with private insurance not the government.

I assume from your question that you are receiving disability payments also, like SSD. You can probably work a limited amount and not lose your benefits, but check with your social security office first to be sure of the rules.

If you receive SSDI, you are allowed to earn just over $800 per month. If you get SSI, you are not allowed to work.
