I heard a story of a nun voluntarily going to a prison to help the prisoners with laundry, self-esteem, and understanding the bible. Not all nuns are lifeless, and most of them are smart enought to realize that a compassionate heart is more powerful than church doctrine.

There has always been special, sacred music for worship, though.
