It's proof that god is an incompetent designer.

If you accept evolution, it makes sense because that is the way the eye evolved.

If you believe in "Intelligent Design" or ID then you are an IDiot. You have to accept that when god, the head IDiot, designed the eye, he connected the nerves to the wrong end of the light detecting cells and he was stuck with a bundle of nerves on the inside of the eye which had to pass through the retina causing a blind spot.

There are many more limitations to human eye. Human cannot see as much as a house fly sees. Blind spot is noticed only if we close our one eye and look at an object within a certain distance and angle. There are secrets in God's creation and reasons. Everything is perfect. It is just like asking why not one eye at back and one infront so that we can see both sides. God did create man in perfect shape.

Blind spots'

Knees that would get a failing Grade if designed by an architecture student.

Internal organs that crowd each other, but would have their own spaces if we walked on all fours

under-bites, overbites

eyes and ears and teeth that wear out before we a finished with them

People often say the it is a miracle that the human body works so perfectly.

The really amazing thing is that the human body works at all.

I think that the 'blind spot' in the human eye is poetic justice. God can be said to *** irny to the human condition and illustrate it by giving humans a blind spot. It's because humans have a blind spot when it comes to him. We typically have a blind sopt when it comes to spiritual things. There's a part of reality that we cannot see, and yet they are there. We also have a blinnd spot when it comes to unltraviolet light.

So in saying all of this, mankind is not perfect!

the blind spot is the area where the optic nerve enters our eyeball. it contains the major blood vessels which supply the eye with nutrients and keep it well perfused with oxygen. I

for this reason it does not contain any photoreceptors which perceive light as in the other areas of the back of the eye.

it is an extremely small area. This Does not mean that we as humans are imperfect and that God created us with flaw. it could be that relatively speaking as a human this area of blindness is so irrelevant to us as humans that we do not miss seeing in that area. the benefits far outweigh any possible risks.

with both eyes functioning well this area is never ever noticed as vision of one overlaps the other. this could also be seen as a way 'round' the blind spot 'problem' as you put it.

Nothing is created for 'no reason' it is all in the accordance of the laws of the Almighty God

If you read in the book of Genesis, everything was "good" (not perfect) according to God when he created it.

However because of the introduction of sin, everything has been in decay since. That is why sickness, genetic disease, birth defects, etc. exist. To look at the condition of a human today after thousands of years of "decay" in creation would be the same as looking at a 15 year old, oil burning, ducted taped bumper, cracked windshield, rust holes in the floorboard car and think that that is how the designer originally intended it.

You mock the intelligence of God in his creation of the human eye- yet can you answer me why no scientist or any type of engineer to this day has ever developed a camera anywhere near as complex and sophisticated as the human eye ?

Because the human eye is missing some photoreceptor cells. Fortunately, Odin saw fit to rewire the brain to cover it up for the most part.

Also an example of why Octopuses are Odin's preferred children of the world.

If Gods creations are perfect, why do humans have so many faults? If people were perect, we wouldn't have so many problems. There wouldn't be robberies, Murders, Kidnapping, raping, cheating, lying....George Bush wouldn't exist....(Last one was a slight joke)

Hey! The Lord had to put the optical nerve somewhere. The eye is an engineering masterpiece...Steiner, Zeiss, and Leica can't hold a candle to the Lord. If I were the the Lord, I'd pinch you for that question. tf

The religious answers to this question just beggar belief. If you really, really believe that we were created by an omnipotent handyman whose easily-distracted nature led him to create thousands of different species of green beetle instead of bothering to finish off the human immune system, then you are a gullible poltroon, and you need to read more about physics and biology.
