coffee is bad. not only is it bad for you (it is considered a drug) but it is bad tasting, it stains your teeth and gives you bad breath. it may give you evergy, but you can do the same with something like...natural sugars from an apple or pear. and if you absolutly need some sort of caffeene, go for chocolate or a small soda.

Wow. Almost everything you said was either wrong or misinterpreted. Not to mention your failed argument--which isn't even a question, considering your first sentence.
You are not a scientist. You read what scientists write. That does not make you smart enough to determine that coffee is bad for everyone, the effects of coffee on gout and diabetes, and the real reasons for obesity.
Until you get out there and do large-scale double-blind unbiased research studies of these issues, you don't really have any room to talk. If you don't agree with coffee drinking, fine. But humanity has been doing it for generations with no ill effects. Whatever your personal issue with the stuff, it's your issue---not anyone else's.

Im not a big coffee drinker, but as long as its not all starbucked out, they say some pure black coffee is actually good, it stimulates the brain, has antioxidents, increases brain power. This is not a 5 cup a day habit, 8oz a day, can be beneficial. I drink it when husband is home to make it, though I can. So Coffee does have positive properties, BLACK ONLY
There are studies, showing in moderation it can be good, do a search under black coffee benefits, you will see that not all coffee is bad.

I think like anything, coffee is ok as long as it is taken in moderation. I drink two coffees a week instead of a day like I've seen some people (worked in an espresso drive thru).
The same goes for things like alcohol, candy, etc.
All in moderation. It won't hurt to treat yourself now and then.

Coffee is most likely not good for you. But anything taken in a large quantity generally isn't! Moderation is the key.
I drink 1/2 cup of coffee in the morning at work. And that's it.
I enjoy the flavor (I drink it black). I do not consider myself to be addicted to it however.

Alice ..... you're completely wrong. Then again according to your profile you're 23 years old and you like smoking weed and drinking. You may not be the one who should be giving medical advice.
Too much coffee is not good for you but one or two cups a day is just fine. Nobody said that it prevents gout but it does have diuretic properties and it acts as a mild stimulant. Same as cola, tea and chocolate.
As far as type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes ) goes, it is caused by autoimmune destruction of the B cells of the pancreas which normally secrete insulin.
Obesity or improper diet is usually the cause of type 2 or late onset diabetes as fat builds up around insulin receptors and the signal to the pancreas is muted as a result.
It might be a good idea to check your conclusions with proven data before you go around spreading misinformation.

Personally, I am allergic to coffee. Obviously, it is bad for me. However, two of my children with asthma, if I let them drink one cup of coffee, it really helps their asthma and they can do without their prescription medicine. I don't think one cup per day is bad for the average person.

I don't think that drinking a cup or two a day is all that bad. It helps out in the morning. Tim Hortons GOOD.
