Usually the direct approach is better but in order to see if you hit it off....ask her to meet you for coffee or tea. You can talk and get to know her. If you hit it off you can go do something afterwards or set a "date" for the near future. Good luck and have tons of fun!

Try "I've been thinking about going to the movies, would you like to go with me?" Straightforward and honest is always the best way. If she says "Yes" be clear on when and where, too.
