A common question, it's been pretty cold here these last few days.

The cold spell will soon pass and temperatures will rise again just as they always have done in the past.

Global warming is about long term temperature changes across the whole planet. There's still going to be cold spells, there will at times be record breaking cold spells but the overall trend is one of increased temps.

Trevor's right on this one - except that by the same token, individual heat waves in August also prove nothing. But if there is one this year, you'll hear a constant barrage on the news about global warming.
