Anyone else order free chips as samples from their site?

I'm not sure which site you are referring to. I get sample chips from several manufacturers quite often, to try them out and see if they will 'fit' with my company's design criteria (which is rather strict, hi-reliability stuff).

If you are an electronic design engineer it is quite easy to speak with a manufacturer's representative, or register on-line with a chip manufacturer, to get samples.
