Met a GREAT guy in a bar this past Thursday night. Went back to my place, had a great time! He calls and texts as often as he can and is super sweet. I know it's only been a week, but I would date him in a second, one problem though: he's in the Navy. He's in until about 2014, stationed in VA for now, then Great Lakes, and he hopes to go to Japan soon. While we were together he talked about really wanting to settle down, which is exactly what I've wanted all this time. Do I go ahead and try to be the Navy girlfriend? It's hard to start a relationship while he's away at sea... but I think that if we can get past that, that this could be something REALLY great for both of us...

I think if you really like him, yes give it a chance. My husband and I only spent 3 weeks together before being put on opposite sides of the world for 5 months, and even then we lived 4 hours apart for another 5 months, then opposite sides of the world for another 4 months, then finally we got to be at the same place. It's now 7 years later and we're happily married with two wonderful kids! I think we really got to know each other during our first year because so much was written, and it was not all physical. Odds were against us, and people told us to just forget about even trying, but we knew what we wanted, and that was each other. This is not to say it was easy, it was hard at times, but if you let it, it will only build your relationship.

Well, I am a little bias as I was a female in the Army and had a boyfriend at home. Things were really good. My brother was in the Navy stationed in South Carolina, Virginia, and he was out to sea a lot. He had a girlfriend the whole time and actually after a month of being in South Carolina they got married. She traveled everywhere with him. He is out of the Navy now but does not regret any of it. I say go for it. You have nothing to lose.

I am the wife of a soldier. I can tell you that it is difficult at best being married to the military. You MUST be supportive 100% and if you aren't willing to give your all then don't even try. If you are willing then go for it. The rewards out way the difficulty. If you decide not to do the "Navy Girlfriend" thing then please support him as a friend. Remember that he is one of our country's heroes. Tread lightly dear.

boot camp is about 8 weeks long.. write him everyday and trust me he will appreciate every single one of those letters. letters are like candy in boot camp. send pictures every once in a while(clean ones).. if you decide this is not what you want tell him now because my boyfriend told me stories of some guys who got dear john letters and that doesn't exactly help their morale.

Sure, but and get married quick too, more money that way, plus you get free medical. and with tricare (army medical insurance) you can get free boob jobs, no really you can, you can clam that the stress of being a military spouse is hurting your self esteems and new boobs will help you regain your confidence. Gotta love the government.

this is from a air force wife, HELL NO don't do it! you do not know how lonely your going to get, and he is going to have girls hitting on him like crazy everywhere he goes and since your just a girlfriend who knows what he'll be doing, still talk to him, but do your own thing and keep going with your life, please don't be waiting on him, my husband is deployed right now and it sucks, i miss him so much! but i chose this life and we married before he went in, don't do it especially since your not married!

I was in the Navy....it is not worth it, too much trouble, time away and distrust.
