I can't understand the concept. Thou shall not kill??? People are put in prison and sometimes to death for killing another person.. but abortion is legal..?? Hmm.. And they have made safe places to drop off a unwanted baby to be placed into adoption.. I just don't get it! Thanks for your answer.

My comment was taken the wrong way totally. I asked that because Sarah said one reason for abortion was to keep people from harming or killing themselves trying to abort... So we have abortion so someone doesn't kill themselves.. I am against abortion and I can't understand why it is legal. I am not starting something or playing a game.?? It was merely a question on something she typed.

Abortion is murder. I believe the only reason abortion is legal is because of the women who get raped. They would have to deal with a lot emotionally if they had a baby because they were raped. But what about that new morning after or plan b pill or whatever. I think all women who get raped should have to take it so abortion could be illegal. I dont think its legal because of what dumb teenagers AND adults may do because they dont want the baby. They were ready to have sex so now they have to be ready to spend the next 18 years at least, taking care of a baby. Plain and simple. These people who get an abortion wouldnt kill a baby thats already in this world, so why kill one that isnt yet?! It doesnt make sense. I am 1000% against abortion. There is no reason what-so-ever to get an abortion and it be OKAY and not murder. If someone cant handle having a baby then you shouldnt of had sex to begin with. And if you did and now youre pregnant, adoption!!! And dont say oh it costs too much because there are PLENTY of free adoption clinics everywhere.

Abortion has been done as far back in history as you can imagine. Herbal methods, surgical methods, you name it. There have always been ways for women who were faced with unwanted or unplanned pregnancies to end their pregnancies. Today, abortion is legal to prevent the injuries and deaths that occurred with herbal and back-alley surgical abortions. Abortion is available so women who are not ready to be mothers can choose to NOT bring children into the world at this time. Is this a good thing? I don't know....
but reading in the paper today about the woman who just hung herself and her children in Texas... imagining her 5 year old struggling, panicking, trying to breathe... in pain and in fear........ or Andrea Yates who drowned all of her children... picture them splashing in the water trying to escape..... or the woman who slammed rocks into her children's heads and faces until they were dead. Imagine the pain they went through.. think about their screams.
Now- if any of these women had decided to abort while their children were still unaware, rather than killing their breathing children... would you STILL say abortion was wrong? Which is MORE wrong? Should these women, or any woman who is not 'fit' or not 'ready' to be a mother have children that will later die in fear and agony or live a life of hatred and neglect?

Abortion is selfish. It's about convience and deception. Girls don't want their parents to know what they have been doing so they kill their babies.
Abortion is NOT safe, and making it legal hasn't made it safe. Woman die during abortions, they get infections, they have negative responses to the anesthesia.
Science shows us that at the moment of conception, their is life. At 21 days gestation, there is a heartbeat. The baby is alive.
And this is itsn't a human it's a fetus stuff? What kind of fetus? A human fetus.. Humans only produce humans...
Abortion is the intentional murder of a baby, a violation of the babies rights.

Technically, in the eyes of the law, a person doesn't exist until a baby is born alive. A miscarriage is not a person. Thus, abortion is legal.
This produces a very simple dividing line. It's difficult to draw a line and say, for example, this person is brain-dead so we should be allowed to let them die. Look at the Terry Schiavo case - despite the fact that she had half her brain gone, and the rest not showing any sign of life, bozos like Bill Frist (who's supposed to be a trained medical doctor) said "She looks responsive to me" on the basis of a few videotapes.
With abortion, it's a lot simpler line - if the baby is born alive and breathes, that's a human. Before that, it's not. Otherwise, we have the government telling you what to do or not to do with your own body.
Maybe we'd end up like Romania in the 1980's, where birth control was illegal and women had to report for mandatory pregnancy tests every few months. The rulers were concerned about the high rate of illegal abortions and the falling birth rate, so the local dictator decided women would be forced to have any baby they carried; that way the workers' paradise would not end up without enough workers in 25 years....
Also, orthodox Judaism says, based on the bible, that abortion is OK. There's a passage in Hebrew law that says if 2 men get into a fight, and strike a pregnant woman so she miscarries, but no other damage is done, then the offending party pays a fine. Whereas, elsewhere the penaly for murder is death. So, causing a miscarriage (or abortion) is NOT murder. Of course, everyone disagrees what this really means depending on your translation of ancient Hebrew.
Many cultures believe a baby is not a person,does not get a name, until a certain number of days after birth. This is due to the high rate of infant mortality before modern medicine came along - why give a name and get too attached to someone who might be dead the next day?.

It is crazy to me that animals will kill for their young while upright intelligent humans will suck out, rip apart and/or poison their own babies who feel every second of it until their death because the mother doesn't feel like taking care of it or putting it through the "Red Tape" adoption process. I swear it is truly sad that we are the ones with compassion and higher thinking yet we have this so a$$ backwards that even animals that walk on all four have us looking like we need to be the ones locked up in cages!

abortion is murder, i am an adopted child with 5 siblings, we are all grown now with children of our own, none of which would be here if our biological mothers thought it OK to kill us, i cannot imagine my life without any of my siblings or nieces or nephews, also my 12 year old is here because i was raped, he is an incredible child, and loved dearly by his brothers and sister, we would not be a complete family without him, i don't like hearing all the stupid excuses people have for murdering there children, it is so sad

I don't understand it either. How people can kill an innocent being that’s apart of them? I feel it's wrong and horrible especially abortions at 8 and 9 weeks. The goverment has laws for people going around shooting cats and dogs but people can kill unborn children. It's so sad that god blesses people with babies and they throw it back in his face. In my opinion it's no such thing as a inconvenient time, or not being ready. When you have sex there’s always a possibility of pregnancy resulting, its not a conspiracy everyone knows this. So if you're not ready for that possibility keep your legs closed or your d*** in your pants.

I asked a similar question last week. I was surprised at how many people who were "pro-choice" were also in favor of euthanisia. A lot of them think killing people with alzheimers should be legal too.

not everyone thinks abortion is wrong or thinks of it as murder.
they keep abortion legal because they know that if they don't there will still be plenty of people wanting to get "rid" of their pregnancy and who would risk their lives doing something dangerous trying to terminate their pregnancy. I mean think about how many teens say they dont want to tell their parents so they dont want to keep it full term.. alot of them would end up punching themselves in the stomach or trying to starve themselves.. heck i've even heard of someone sticking a metal coat hanger up there to try to "pull" the baby out!!
They keep abortion legal to keep stupid people from trying stupid things to terminate their pregnancy.. stuff that could leave them permanently infertile or even kill them

I agree 100%. I believe in choice. The choice being, for males, keep it in your pants, and females, keep your legs crossed. After that choice, live with the results, it is murder. not choice. There are other options.
The only reason for abortion should be rape or incest, if that.
