I don't want to have to go to the hair place and let them work with it cause most people don't even know how to curl it correctly.

I'd say it depends on the weather and the location of the event. If its hot ---go with 1 or 2 french braids, if its raining or humid use a good gel and/or hairspray to help control the frizz. If its inside it really won't matter. You will be wearing a cap so you could always go natural ...dampen hair with water or detangler spray and pick it or comb with a wide tooth comb then use a good gel or curl serum to keep it from looking dried out.

I personally would wash it, then use hair serum to ensure it doesn't frizz. My hair is thick and curly. I have to use serum and mousse to keep mine in place. You know your hair best, but if its your graduation you are going to then I'd keep it down cos your hat will be on your head for most of the time. Then once the ceremony is over you should be able to run your fingers through it!
What ever you'll do, you will look great. Just enjoy yourself.

Is it you thats graduating? or are you goin to a graduation?
If your graduating then remember you're going to have the cap on so you cant do it up without having it get a little messed up. How about having it straightened and curl the bottom outwar with a flip look.

dont brush curly hair! wet it and comb it with a wide tooth comb! put some curling serum or moose in crunch and then leave to dry naturally or blow dry with a diffuser for curls! then put it up (if u dont want it down) pull back with fingers into a pony tial and make it so it looks messy but not trampy messy sexy messy! you know like wen u do ur hair in a hurry and it looks better than wehn u try?? thats teh style lol! if bits fall out dont worry cos it'll add to the sexiness!

My oldest daughter has very thick and curly hair also. Put in some gel and put it back on top of your head or in a bun. Let some ringlet hang or if they are too frizzy, put sponge curlers on sections that are hanging. Hairspray and away you go. Congratulations!!

AAAAH! How long have you known about your graduation ceremony???? Don't worry, wear it how you would usually do. If you prefer it up, wear it up. You KNOW how your hair behaves!! Just don't try any new styles now, because you are probably nervous enough. May I just say well done for graduating and enjoy the rest of the evening.

well you could wear it down and natural just make sure you put some serum in it to seperate the curls.

or

you could straighten it.. get a friend to help you

or

you could have two french plaits.

there are loads of things you can do yourself if you have a friend why dont you both try a few styles while you have time

If you dont want it doing, run some serum through your hair to make it shiny, or you could use some crunchy jelly to seperate and define your curls.

A hairdresser may set your curls too tight or make them loose.

well, if it is very curly, you can, after you take a shower,
put some gel in it. as ur hair dryes, it will curl, but the gel will keep it from getting all poofy. and it doesn't look bad @ all.
that is what my friend does all the time.
