this is Coordinated Universal Time or UTC (which used to be called GMT or greenwich mean time)

this is used as a universal mean time, you would need to calculate the difference between UTC and your time zone

this is how the military and aviation groups refer to time, and you have to know the difference....

How To Calculate Zulu Time

the earth has 24 - one hour time zones. the military assigns an alphabet letter to each zone to avoid confusion when working in unknown territory (two letters are not used). The Z zone or Zulu is the same as GMT or UTC. To calculate you need to know you longtitude, east or west. For every 15 degrees, correct local time by one hour (- if east, + if west). If local time is non-standard/savings time then use solar time. if result is more than 24:00 hours, then add to Date and subtract 24 hours (west longtitudes). if result is negative, add 24 hours and reduce Date (east longtitudes).
