Yes, I think that really is the point behind the show that the writers were trying to make, other than that of entertainment.

They didn't stumble onto it but they did mainstream the idea.

But perhaps the Gods were merely aliens but we will never know that is until the day humans advance enough to separate a black hole from our current space and time creating an alternate universe producing a big bang and then we will be the Gods and we will have our answer.

Evolution is the only way other intelligent, more advanced beings could exist (sans God.) If evolution were true then humanity would be on an upward climb, becoming more civilized just by the progress of the biological being, the race itself, meaning that even people in third world countries should be evolving upwards as well. Now since that is not the case do you suggest that those stated people are below others in their level of evolution, effective putting some humans above others in importance and making the others less "human?"

But the truth is not that we are on an upwards evolutionary climb, but as a matter of fact on a downward spiral. Just because we have all this advanced technology/science/"reason" doesn't mean the human species has become more advanced, we've had the same intelligence capabillities since the beginning, it's just that the natural chronological order of history, discoveries, science, and culture, have led us to our current state, not some sort of evolutionary climb. Like I said, we are on a downward spiral, people are more cruel, rude, immoral, violent and unloving than ever before, despite these so called "advancements."

I've thought many times that Stargate drew some parallels to the religious movements of our day. I wish more theists would watch and see what happens, and how easily sheeple can be herded when fear, intimidation and ignorance are utilized.

and where did the aliens come from?

Bigger, older aliens? Have I just created an infinite regression of aliens?

And as I understand stargate, they had to add some 'ascension' mumbo jumbo about leaving the physical plane to explain why they don't seem to be around today.

Hallowed be the Auri!!! I always thought that maybe the gate really does exisit and the writers are like the Alien Murry who wrote a TV show about it.

Anything other than an invisible voyeur is possible.

It isn't they who have stumbled upon it though. This idea has been around for many years, the christians just don't want you to know that.

No I don't. All those portals with the weird watery look to them, and the tunnels of colour? Some special effects guy on a computer does that.

It isn't real.

There's too much evidence of our slow evolution and the slow development of civilisations around the world.

Eric Von Danekin (please excuse the spelling) used to funny, suggesting that the mayans had help from aliens.........but they bother to show them how to make a wheel.
