i am16 and people are telling me that because i havent got a clue about mechanics that i shouldnt take it up as a career but cars are the only thing that interest me even though ive never done anything or know anything on one

I would say go to a local mechanic's shop and ask if you can apprentice (intern) with them. Since you're still young, it's the best way to see if that's really what you want to do for the rest of your life. You can follow the mechanic around, watch what they do, learn how to do different things and get a grasp of the whole car shop surroundings. Good luck!!

Your aptitude will help you to complete some course (diploma), successfully and without much sweat: thereafter, with the background of what you learned in the course, you will know how to select an employer and the job that you really want. If you're intrested in cars, then study to become a mechanic...Don't listen to other people.
