most probably you are talking about Begonia plant .
There are several species , varieties and hybrids ( It is highly prized decorative plant ) Famous for its leaves as well as flowers.

I can't think of any plant with ALL of those characteristics. Perhaps you could describe it a bit more? How big is the tuber? What is its shape? What is it used for?
The leaves are both long and round?
