My hair is a nightmare. It is naturally kinky and wavy, and i find it hard to get straight sleek hair.
I have tried nearly all of the products that you can buy In Boots and Superdrug, but they dont do anything for my hair. They make my hair either really greasy, dry or dull.
What are the best hair products to use to achieve straight shiny sleek glossy hair? I am desperate. I hate washing my hair and trying to style it.

I am using TIGI camera ready shiner and defrizzer but i think i going a bit crazy with that stuff, although it does work. Redken sounds good too, and paul mitchell. Think i might pop into my salon and have a consultation.

sometime si think these hair salons just want to flog their products, and will tell you something works just to get the money. I broguht some professional conditioner once, and it did nothing for my hair.

I use John Freida products and LOVE them. You can get them at a regular store like Target or WalMart and I'll never switch back to another brand. They have done great things to get rid of my frizz!

Hi no there not I have the same type of hair as you and the only way I get my hair straight and smooth is to straighten it with a hair straightener. Ive tried products after products in brand names and even what hairdressers recommend and it just doesnt work. I stopped wasting money about a few years ago and got some ghds and now all I need is heat protection spray, shampoo and condioner, deep nourishing hair masks, and Supersoft hair serum or a shine spary and Im all smooth and sleek.

Yes professional products are much better than grocery store products. Convienient store brands but a lot of wax and things to water down the product so that they can sell more of it and the fillers that they put in there can leave a lot of build up on your hair after time making it greasy and weighed down. Ask your stylist which product they recommend for your hair. Redken Smooth down is a good professional product for not that big of price - again if you find Redken in a convienient store don't buy it - it is most likely watered down and not the same product you would buy in a salon.

Well now, I've never understood this lemming-like following of fashion, but then, as regards hair I have always been incredibly lucky, my own is a very good colour naturally.
Mine is glossy and thick and I keep it cut in layers, but it's naturally wavy and very full. I could not be arsed straightening it, because I think this obsessively flat straight hair is very unflattering on most women, and it wrecks hair.
The products I use: Aussie shampoos and conditioners mainly, and the occasional application of coal tar shampoo for a scalp condition. I don't use mousse or gel or any of that rubbish, I only blow-dry it when I'm running late for something, and I certainly don't let a hair straightener anywhere near it, in fact I don't even own one.
My advice to you: Get the best haircut you can afford - a good manageable cut makes maintenance so much easier. Find a good hairdresser and stay with him/her. Learn to work with your hair, instead of against it. If your hair is naturally not straight, work with this. You can always change the colour, but I think that people who put hot metal on their hair are crazy.
I am regularly complimented on my hair.

i think in terms of shampoo and conditioner yes they are better i have been using kerastase for a couple of months and my hair has never been in better condition. obviously it going to cost more but the products are usually more concentrated so last longer and the results you can get worth it in my opinion. try www.hqhair.com and have a look through all the hair products see if theres any that might suit you.
p.s. i think the best are redken and kerastase tons of salons sell them

a splash jojoba oil brushed in daily, working ranging from the backside 4 inches and then larger and better to avert tangles knots and breakages. Then ultimately whilst finished, you are able to brush the entire length with complete weight to distribute the oil. A shikakai medical care (Hesh products from India, yet attainable contained in the united kingdom) makes it sense silky and is meant to develop growth. mixture a splash of the brown powder to a muddy paste and rub in properly, extraordinarily contained in the roots, pass away for a jiffy and rinse. you will see the adaptation as quickly because it dries. in assessment to henna, it does no longer coloration the hair in any respect.

i recently purchesed a prodcut called rusk, and i have EXTERMLY curly thick massively wavey hair that just does it's own thing., but this rusk i find works VERY well and you don't have to use to much of it! and it keeps it lock in place really well to! i had one of mty friends who is a hair stylest tell me that proffesional products are the same as generic they just use less water in them, hence the fact something you buy at the salon seems to only require a little bit and something you buy at say walmart seems to take a lot to make your hair work,.

I have wavy hair too and for years I always used the hairdryer on it and flat ironed it straight. Used all the newest products to try to tame it.
All I was doing was damaging it and ultimately making it unhealthy.
IMO, you need to learn to love your waves and accept them.

i've got a similar problem - it doesn't matter how long i blowdry my hair straight it always goes kinky and wavy again! i've just started using trevor sorbie's straightening addict shampoo and it's good because my hair stays cleaner for longer. although i've only got the trial bottle just now (£1.59)
i've got straighteners as well but i'm wary of using them because i think i might burn myself, but my friend said if she didn't straighten hers it would be kinky and frizzy but the straighteners have to be heated to 200degrees
don't know if this'll help, but it's worth a try
