Last summer I did a 1500 calorie a day diet for about a month and lost about 15 - 20 lbs so it will def work for you as I should be consuming 3500 calories as I'm a 6'10 athlete...it's def not healthy as I felt fatigued and drained. But I would not recommend it as it has many adverse side affects.

Yeah initially you should lose a lot, but eating such a little amount may slow your metabolism, so try varying everyday - one day eat 1000 the next 1200 the next 1400 then go back to 1000

if I feel that I am gaining a bit of weight I will go on a diet that is <1000 calories and it is actually pretty easy..I do it for a week or 2 along with PLENTY of cardio workouts.. if you do end up getting hungry towards the night, you can always eat cucumbers or other foods with EXTREMELY low calorie counts.

People often starve themselves which puts your body into "shock" and it pretty much goes into preservation mode and instead of loosing weight it holds on to every bit that it can.
You would be more successful with a diet that lowers your calories but not so drastically.

If you did that and started eating normally (or just more) you would put weight back on. A healthy diet and exercise is the only way to lose weight healthily.
