I agree with you. I walk 95% of the time and prefer to walk. There are times when I play with my dad or grandpa we take a cart. Walking 18 is too much for them.
When I see kids and young people in carts I assume they're lazy, want to play fast or have some kind of injury/disability that impairs their walking ability. Whatever the reason is, I really don't care. I enjoy walking and need the exercise. To each his/her own.
I think people that are capable of walking should walk more. Good exerecise, you get a better feel and look at the course, you don't have to grab a bunch of clubs at a time around the greens (won't leave your clubs behind either) because you have them all with you at all times. You also get more opportunities to socialize with everybody in the group (both good and bad).

For me it depends on the course. If I'm playing a course that is laid out really well and gives itself to walking, then I will walk. However, I have played some courses (Falcon Ridge in Cedar Bluff, TN) that is laid out so that even someone in top physical condition had trouble walking it. Much of the terrain is unsteady and there are several holes that have the very long path from previous green to next tee box. Plus as some have said, there are a number of courses requiring carts now.
I agree that golf is a sport where walking is a integral part of the sport, therefore I walk if at all possible.

several reasons-many evident at my course:
1. member courses make more if you take a cart so its encouraged
2. its easier, less effort, more relaxing, so why do something that requires effort
3. to me, the spirit of the game is walking and hitting the ball after some walking, so 2/3 of the people should be eliminated from club championships, etc.. if you have to walk
you should play in either the senior champ cause you can't walk or the cart/lazy division. NOTE: i would also include a division for those truly afflicted with an inability to walk for real.
4. some true resort courses have TRULY spread out with cart paths say 1/2 mile between tees that its impossible to walk.
to me walking is part of the game..

Because they are lazy. And also because a lot of courses nowadays charge the same fee whether you walk or ride, so if you're paying for the cart you might as well use it. But contrary to what the golf course will tell you, carts actually slow down play on the course.

Many golf courses require you to take a cart whether you want to or not. They do this for 2 reasons:
1. To make more money
2. To speed up play
Have a great day!!

A better question would be; Why are more than half of Americans overweight?
Nothing is better than walking 18 holes on a nice golf course. Riding is for old men and beer drinkers. There is nothing wrong with either BTW.

Umm....i could yell after him. Ask him what the F*ck is he doing. Then i could discover the closest guy or woman to me with a cart, borrow it for somewhat, andpersistent after the dude that took mine. it could desire to finally end up being a exciting chase, that could desire to get us un hassle, yet whats up it grow to be exciting. If no person grow to be close to, i could take a seat there and golf that hollow a million circumstances. in basic terms anticipate the subsequent cart again via. Then if I observed the guy lower back, i could ask him what the heck he grow to be doing. Say it grow to be ok and ask him if he had to golf with me. Then i could take him out, and as quickly as we've been given to that hollow he stole my cart on, i could bounce in andpersistent away. Yup....

i dont think that 95% use carts i would guess its more like 50-60% with the exception of people who can litteraly not walk 18 holes people who take carts are lazy, carts slow down play, make you play worse, and are the worst thing ever to happen to golf. and PEOPLE WHO DRIVE THEM NEVER LET ME PLAY THROUGH AND IT TOOK ME 2.5 HRS TO PLAY 9 YESTURDAY
