Having a long distance relationship is very hard but you can make it easy and trusting when you do these things:
1. Regularly make a time to communicate not everyday but everytime you seem you have to call her or write her.
2. During that perfect time to call or write, make the most of your time and make it as if that's the last time youre going to see each other because through this you are getting sweeter and more understanding with your partner so that there's no negative energy will try to invade your bonding time.
3. Don't promise something to your partner when he or she is away from you because it increase the chances that your going to fail that promise because you only did it most of the time not because you want to but your just impressing your partner from a far away. So be realistic and be true, don't promise anything you can't surely keep.
4. Pray and entrust to God your relationship that no matter what happens, you will still be able to accept all the possiblities and keep your faith intact.
5. Be happy everyday, it helps you keep away from negative thoughts about your partner who is away from you.

This may seem really out there but i've known of long distance couples who set out atleast one night a week and watch the same movie no matter where they are living and eat the same meals....either on the phone together or by themselves then discuss it as if they were together watching it and eating together....it's really sweet and romantic and tends to make the distance seem invisible for that couple of hours.

trust, i met my hubby when i was 17 and he went to work in germany for 3 years only 2 months after we met.
we called each other every other day as well as wrote to each other and i flew out to see him regularly and he would come back to visit too leaving little things on the door step like a rose and stuff so i knew he was home.
You need to trust each other implicitly, surprise each other occasionally and speak regularly. in those days we didnt have the internet so today its easier.
long distance relationships do work if u are both commited, we have now been together 12 yrs and married for 4 with a new baby.

Handwritten letters make all the difference. It's so nice to open up a long distance letter from your loved one. Emails just aren't the same!
