I ride an exercize bike 20 minutes every night because I have a couple of extra inches of fat I want to burn off. Is this going to work because I dont want to waste my time but I dont like running so this is the only thing I can do. I am dieting and doing pilates but should I bump up to 30 minutes or something?

Riding an exercise/stationary bike is *almost* as good as riding the "real" thing. The only difference is the effort to keep one's self upright on a road bike also burns-up calories (less than 10% difference between the two).

Do it *every* day, and you'll burn the fat...

One thing to remember, a diet is not something to go on, it is something to live on. Eat healthily, and in moderation, and you will, if you keep your exercise program, rarely need to worry about having to loose large amounts of weight.

As for increasing the ride to 30 minutes, find a 30 minute TV show you like, and ride from the start of the opening credits, and keep going at a steady pace until the end credits roll...admittedly, you'll only ride for about 27 actual minutes, but still... ;)

For fat loss, 30 mins is the absolute minimum. 45 would be a lot more effective. You don't have to do it all on the bike. You could go for a brisk 20 minute walk and come back and hop on the bike.
