Americans are welcome all over Europe. They are seen as some of the best tippers and as such you would get great service in restaurants.
It's nice to speak some of the local language but English is spoken by almost everyone under the age of 40, French and German are the two other big languages (if you have a grasp of Spanish you might understand some french)
Europe has some large cities and are a lot safer than most American cities, but don't take that for granted. Pickpockets are the largest problem you will come across. Act as you would at home but respect local customs and you'll have a great time.
The American accent will come in handy if you fancy finding the local talent and as long as you are polite you'll make many friends.

Watch out for pickpockets. Drink bottled water. Watch out what kind of meat you eat, probably not a great idea to eat steak, beef, but chicken and seafood should be ok. Try not to look like a tourist, as you will stick out like a sore thumb and basically be a walking sign for trouble. Other than that, this is a beatiful part of the world, enjoy!

Yeah, don't keep your wallet in your backpack...my neice had her's picked that way. People may be nicer to teens but remember that Americans are not liked everywhere. Keep your manners in check at all times (manners ar universal) and beware of "loners" who may take advantage of your youth or the fact you are an American. Don't get into religious or political discussion with strangers.Don't advertize yourself as American. Keep your head ON. Do enjoy yourself.
