well i got a skim borad that has this foam stuff on it for like griping or something it only cost 20 $ so do u think i should get a better one? and any tips n skim boarding?!!

If you are good at it and enjoy it then invest a little more money in a nicer board. Borrow and test different sizes and makeups and see what you like best. Compare different bottoms on boards. Some companies use treated wood while others use fiberglass or plastic. Fiberglass is a bit faster than wood, but can crack and chip. Wood is more vulnerable to scratches, but is less likely to crack or chip. In the end it comes down to how you take care of your board.

As for tips, relax. Work your balance and core. Be prepared to fall. Enjoy yourself!
