If God existed (which he doesn't), could he create a being more powerful than himself?

If God can do *anything*, then this must fall under the scope of *anything*. And if God cannot do this, then he cannot do *anything*. He is therefore limited.

If it's true, why would you want to worship something when there's even a possibility of something being greater?

A common trick question from athiest... You don't really want to know if God can create a a being more powerful than himself; the point of your question is to argue that God doesn't exist and suggest that anyone who believes otherwise is ignorant. None of the common scenarios concerning the origins of the universe can be proven any more than intellegent design. I could try to convince you that what I believe is the truth, or you can try to convince me that what you believe is true. The fact is neither of us can prove it. That being said, the answer to your question is...yes he can...

An smart question certainly. to declare God can not create a being greater valuable than Him implies God has constrained know-how which contradicts the assumption of an all-valuable God. whether to declare God can create a being greater valuable than Him could propose that God isn't all valuable and there is room for a miles better ability to exist. An all valuable God could desire to have the flexibility to create a being greater valuable than Him yet He could even have the flexibility to opposite His creation at every time He wills. unfastened will is the characteristic of an all-valuable God.

God bless you Jesus loves you, i can tell you that God does exist. please do not listen to what the devil, i rebuke him in the name of Jesus and what others say that God does not exist. If God would not exist, would you be here today, would you be created? because it was not evolution or monkeys that created us, it was God. He can do anything because for Him everything is possible, and God cannot create a being more powerful than Himself, because the Only Only One that is Greater than any of the false gods is God, and God does not share His Glory with anyone. He alone is God.

God could in fact create a being more powerful than Himself, IF he chose to. "Can" doesn't necessarily mean "Will". God is not limited... He is limitless. He is greater than all things because he chooses it that way.

Hmm... perhaps. Humans can create machinery much more powerful than ourselves, and we can also destroy what we have created. But since this forum is called Yahoo Answers and not Yahoo Divine Wisdom, I don't think any of us could give you the correct answer.

Yes God could create a being more powerful than him- and then he'd still be more powerful anyway.

Ah, how we mortals are so vain with our limited intellect. If you lived in a 2D world could you imagine the 3rd dimension?

Why would He need to; He's already got various religions doing the job for Him. Kind of like a religious "arms race".

God is the Alpha & Omega. There can not be anyone/thing greater than He.

There is no such thing as more powerful. As powerful maybe, but there is no power to exceed God's. In your wildest dreams you couldn't think of a power that God doesn't have.
