It is a common misconception that Mary is worshipped in the Catholic Church as a God, but this is not true...the fact is that all other Christian religions hold her in the same respect as does the Catholic Church, but the Catholic church does put more emphasis on her...she was the mother of Jesus who was born of a virgin birth...she is not divine in my opinion but had a divine appointment...I personally do not worship her but do hold her in high regard as does the Catholic church and other Christian sects...she was after all the mother of Jesus...whether you find it to be a fairy tale or not

I grew up with the thought that Catholics are certainly Christians considering the fact that they suspect Jesus is God and characteristic the full concept of the Trinity, baptism, and holy communion. actually they have each and every of the sacraments that Protestants do. whilst in college I asked this guy what faith he exchange into (i exchange into in San Antonio, TX - land of hispanics and for that reason a good Catholic base). He informed me he exchange into Catholic. I reported, "Oh! you're Christian then." He reported, "No, i'm Catholic." i exchange into apalled. in no way in the previous had I heard that and that i presumed he exchange into nuts. Catholics have some questionable teachings yet they're nevertheless Christians.

I can only speak for Baptists, because I am a Baptist. We believe Mary was to be honored among women. She was a very blessed lady, having been chosen by God to bring His Son into the world. We do not pray to her or have statues of her in our churches.

Mary the mother of Jesus was a woman who was described by God as “highly favored” (Luke 1:28). The phrase “highly favored” comes from a single Greek word, which essentially means “much grace.” Mary received God’s grace. Grace is “unmerited favor,” meaning that it something we receive despite the fact that we do not deserve it. Mary needed grace from God, just as the rest of us do. Mary herself understood this fact, as she declared in Luke 1:47, “…and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior…” Mary recognized that she needed to be saved, that she needed God as her Savior. The Bible never says that Mary was anyone but an ordinary human female whom God chose to use in a extraordinary way. Yes, Mary was a righteous woman and favored (graced) by God (Luke 1:27-28). At the same time, Mary was also a sinful human being just like everyone else – who needed Jesus Christ as her Savior, just like everyone else (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23; 6:23 1 John 1:8).
There is nothing wrong with honoring Mary as the earthly mother of Jesus. The Bible describes Mary as "highly favored" by God (Luke 1:28). At the same time, there is no instruction in the Bible to revere those whom have gone to Heaven. We are to follow their example, yes, but worship, revere, or venerate, no!

From the J.W. point of view, Mary is respected as Jesus' mother. But she is not venerated as in worshipped.
also she is not used as a channel for prayer to God. This is reserved strictly for Jesus.
(John 14:6) Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
(John 14:20) In that day YOU will know that I am in union with my Father and YOU are in union with me and I am in union with YOU.

We new agers believe that Mary (or the female diety) is the Holy Ghost. Father (source), Son (us), and Holy Ghost (the personal, interactive part of God)
Some of us also believe that Mary was herself an immaculate conception. She holds equal status with Jesus and Jesus himself sought her advice.

Most Hindus are tolerant of others' faith. Mary is accepted as the blessed Mother of Jesus. Many Hindus do visit Catholic churches and pray too.
I do too, occasionally.
It may be anomalous, but you do find a picture of Mary with Infant Jesus in her hands alongside those of Hindu deities in many houses.
For most of us Hindus God is God. At least we accept that God of Christians is as much God to them as our God is to us.
We want to continue in our faith without denying others' faith.

I'm assuming you are talking about Jesus mother. We were taught about her in Lutheran school as a part of the whole story of Jesus. She was not as major as John the Baptist or the disciples, but she was major. It was Joseph, her husband, that only got a nod here and there.

Mary was the blessed mother of Jesus, but nothing more. She is dead and buried just like the apostles and the saints. She is no more divine than you or I.
