Use the Volume icon in the system tray (Next to the Clock). It looks like a little speaker.

If there is no volume icon, you can find this in the Control Panel. Go to Sounds and Audio Devices. On the main tab there is a check box which says "Place Volume Icon on the Taskbar". Click to check the box and click ok.

Click on the volume icon once and you will get the slider, if the check box in the bottom is CHECKED, then the sound is muted. Click to clear. Slide the slider toward the top to turn up the volume.

1) go to control panel/audio and sound devices/audio tab/advanced /see if you are muted anywhere in the equalizer. also check and make sure playback volume is turned all the way up.
2) check speaker conncetions make sure they are turned on.
3) if everything checks out then your sound card may be bad or dropped the sound drivers.
In this case:
1) go to desktop/right click my computer /choose properties/hardware/when list comes up go to sound devices.
2) check for a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it. if one is there thats where the problem is and right click and update the driver.
3) if not: just go through each driver in the same manner and update all drivers.
4) if this doesn't work your card is probably bad.
GOOD NEWS IS:Sound cards don't cost alot usually under $15.00
