is getting the back of your neck peirced a bad idea?

well, my aunt my friend courtney's mom has one and i thought it looked cool so i want to get one, even though my bro said it was ok for me to get it. but i just want to make sure if it's ok to do or not

if you want it, and you can look after it, go for it - it has a tendency to reject (it's a surface piercing), and will need good care to keep it.

They have a higher rejection rate than some piercings. It's a surface peircing, so you need to have someone who's very experienced doing it. You also need to make sure they use a proper surface bar (it's a bar with 90 degree bends on each end looks like ] ). You still run the risk that it will reject. They can be hard to take care of due to the location, especially if you have long hair. Start with a surface bar with flat disks on the end to lower the profile of the jewelry and make sure you take care of it.

As a goth who abhors piercing, I would advise you not to do so. Piercing needs great care and it doesn't look good with holes all over your face (like, if you're thinking of love, don't)

Also, at the back of your neck may injure your ...uhhh...what was that? The spinal chord I think...the important place where people would attack if they want to knock you out or kill you. It's very hard to scrub the back of your neck as well and dirt will stick there, with the piercing, it's likely to get infections easily, so don't.

In terms of your health, as long as you go to a professional piercer, you should be fine. I think it's fairly unique still, so go for it if you want it.

If you're really young though (like still in high school), you probably want to wait a year or so and see if you still want it.

why would you want to put it on the back of the neck, later down the road you might not want that now you have a hole there. i think alot of holes in you looks bad.
