Good question. I say there is God. There's just too much written on our "hearts", if you will, that is contrary to the physical and mental parts of us.

I don't know if there is a god or not - if there is, there doesn't seem to be any evidence that it takes the form that religions want you to believe.
There are a lot of mysteries in the universe - even just inside your own head, but making up a 'god' to explain them is a waste of time.
The broken heart example isn't physical - it's mental.
A person risking their life to save another isn't illogical - it's a simple matter of doing something that you would hope someone else would do for you. Contrary to popular opinion, you don't have to have religious beliefs in order to have a sense of morals.
Survival of the fittest doesn't have anything to do with your desires (past the sexual ones).

A broken heart has to do with love and loss.
Risking your life to save another is about that person unselfish love for their fellow man.
Survival of the fittest is old programming from when only the strong survived.
Having said that I do believe in Spirit and I am a very spiritual person. The unknown in life is what makes us search harder. :-)

These are all actions or side effects of actions that help individuals and societies survive.
Evolution, if you care to understand it, does explain these and much more.
There may be a aspect of the human psyche that extends beyond the known physical body. But currently what you see as the spiritual can be explained by the physical world. When you have consistent, repeatable evidence of something else, let me know.

But of course there is no god, although we humans have the capacity for complicated feelings (designated spiritual behavior) because we evolved a brain system which gives us that capacity.
and we evolved to have such complicated thinking and feeling organs as we existed for millions of years in groups, and survival of the fittest became for us survival of the fittest group \ tribe \ congregation \ etc. which greatly differs from the evolutionary pressures driving solitary animals.

unknowns, sure. Spiritual, no.
For the broken heart, I do believe there is nothing transcendent or spiritual about it.
survival of the fittest does not imply a constant fight. Natural selection (which is what you are talking about) does say that altruism can be a valid evolutionary strategy.
If I might recommend "The Selfish Gene" by Dawkins, it is a book completely devoid of his atheist ideas and explores genes and their survival strategies. It is a damn good read.

None of your sub-questions have much if anything to do with spirituality or God, but, when most people say there is no God, they mean there is no God of the type described by the major religions, some guy with a beard who created the universe and places eternal judgement on people's mortal lives.

Well I don't see how this ties to a god, but here goes
-Pretty much. Spiritual is just a state of mind. Unknown is there, but if we look hard enough that will evaporate too.
- There are several biological reasons for this. It helps a species to survive and thus is an evolutionary positive trait.
- Yep.

it somewhat is like asking "If I never existed could you permit out me?" you're asking a query approximately non secular issues yet desire a "non preachy" reaction? the fact you exist, that something exists, proves there's a miles better ability. in case you bypass a construction on the line, the fact the construction exists is irrefutable info there became right into a builder. in case you notice a portray in a museum the life of that portray is easy info there became right into a painter. the fact there is life in an orderly universe is easy info there's a author. If there is not any bigger ability, no God, then any ethical decision turns right into a count of opinion. Any regulation in this earth right this moment turns into valueless. homicide, rape, torture, stealing, pillaging, destroying, all of it grow to be somewhat precise or incorrect. in case you deny the life of God you deny absolute ethical reality. what's robust or incorrect turns into as much as the guy. From own interactions on your each and every day life, to concerns of life or dying. In a godless worldwide Hitler and Stalin are completely justified. Survival of the fittest. The Holocaust turns into basically an occasion of evolution enjoying itself out. The homicide of young ones and the starvation of finished countries grow to be the organic order and in case you have been to take a seat there and don't something you would be completely justified with the aid of fact without God you're "God" and settle on what's robust or incorrect for your self. And the alternative of the different guy or woman can, below the variety of Atheism. be unchallengeable with the aid of fact there is not any bigger ethical ability over a individual different than that individual. clarify to me how homicide is faulty if all human beings are our stepped forward chemical mutations that'll in some billion years stop to exist? with the aid of fact society says so? A society which will disappear perpetually into eternity in some thousand years? with the aid of fact you're saying so? What authority do you are able to desire to tell somebody what's robust or incorrect? What approximately Darwin's concept of evolution and survival of the fittest? If somebody is murdered isn't that basically evolution at artwork? They for sure weren't in effective condition adequate against the murderer... it somewhat is the logical end results of Atheism and a worldwide without God. If there is not any God...there is not any element to you. No element on your life. No element to any of your questions. you're basically a mutation which will end functioning in below a century.

There has to be a reason for so many people who find God that become transformed. I've met many who after developing a relationship became a better person. This is not in their own nature, but because they are being transformed into the image of God.
