Beauty has the appearance of health so hormones lead our genes in the direction of more suitable mates. But that's evolution talk. If God just gave us hormones to make us happier, why didn't He just make everyone attractive?

Everyone is attractive (to someone). It just depends on the degree of beauty... Generally the more symmetrical a person is, the more beauty they posses.

Beauty is pretty much in the eye, and mind, of the beholder. True beauty comes from within. Physical beauty is pretty much a thing of youth anyhow. As a youth, I was quite good looking. As I age, I feel that I no longer am. My wife tells me I still am. (To her anyway; now that's love.) I love her too, and she has an inner beauty that I value above the appearance of any sexy movie star's or other celebrity's. I would not trade her for any or all of them. She weighs about 300 pounds (currently) and is snaggle-toothed and has a "lazy eye". But she is beautiful to me, because of her good and loving heart. She will sometimes ask me, "Am I beautiful? She means physically. Of course I tell her yes immediately. Some of the prettiest women I ever knew had a really ugly personality.

Maybe evolution could be true, because some of us do look like animals? Or maybe that goes back to reincarnation? Maybe God will someday make us all shine like the angels.

But I hope, that as I age, I am becoming as beautiful within, as my wife is to me. I think she would say so, but her every impression of me is colored by love. Am am in awe of that. What did I ever do to deserve such a wonderful, awesome gift? What ever could I do? I am blessed! Even if there is no heaven or paradise awaiting me here-after, I am enjoying one here, thanks to that!

More attractive to you. I might think she's too skinny, or too muscular. Too tall, or too short. Different people like different things. Society's perception of beauty doesn't fit everyone's image. God has provided a suitable mate for everyone, not just the hollywood types.

Beauty changes over time and varies between societies and individuals. Hormones are more likely to over rule any "beauty" and go for whatever is easily available (sorry, but some one had to say that...).

beautiful/handsome people carry a genetic makeup that indicates they are more successful as producers and supporters of human children.
what we humans consider beautiful in optional sexual partners is based on the same drive female elephants select male elephants, those who are potentially stronger, better hunters, produce healthier children and feed them properly.

If God had made all women look like Scarlett Johanssen, then I'd believe.

My God is not such a micromanager. If so, He would never allow birth defects, crime, or war, yet those things happen.

it's mostly the physical structure that we attribute to beauty(or lack thereof). god has nothing to do with it.
