Yes, cardio is a good way to lose weight, but by building lean muscle you may not actually see a difference on the scale per say. I work out 3-5 times a week and I always do strength training. Lean muscle weighs more than fat, but it burns more calories when you have lean muscle, so in essence you are doing your body good by building the muscle. Don't go by the scale, go by inches. Lean muscle and a good cardio workout will help your body feel better and your clothes fit better, but may not always change the number on that scale. In actuality, you may gain but DON'T let that discourage you from weight training.

Is it good? It is almost a necessity. Cardio is one of it not the best way to lose weight. Actually a little known secret, Jumping rope is one of the best cardio activities. And if you use a weighted rope it also doubles as a pseudo strength training activity.
I make sure to follow every weight training session with a 45 min cardio session. I try to keep it as low impact as possible since my joints are already stressed from lifting. One trick I like to do is, get on a treadmill and turn the grade all the way up to say 15, then proceed to turn the speed up to about 4.5 - 5.0 mph. Just enough so you're not jogging, always walking. You'll be surprised to know I can burn 1100 calories per hour walking at a steep grade, plus it shapes your calfs thighs and rear. It is great to be strong but it is even better to be cut and strong.

Yes it is, it's highly recommended actually. You get much more calories burned doing this combination. What's great is, one is targeted at your anaerobic system, while the other, aerobic.

Best times for cardio:

1 - Right in the morning on an empty stomach, when your glucose levels are very low.

or

2 - Right after a workout. What happens is, after you lift weights, your body just used about all the glucose for energy. So the storage levels are low. That means, that when you do any kind of cardio exercise, your body will be burning FAT instead of the carbs (glucose) that was previously sitting in your body.

Do strength and cardio in the same session, especially as you are at a decent weight. 10mins bike 15mins cross trainer 15mins rowing machine. 15 * 3 sets of abs crunch 15 * 3 vertical press 15 * 3 shoulder press 15 * 3 chest press 15 * 3 leg press then finish with 20 - 30 mins on the treadmill The trainers in the gym will recommend something this anyway. The treadmill is the best fat burner there imo. After a couple of months review the work out.

yes definitely

however it is much better too add flexibility

for (1)proper alignment of muscles
(2) oxygenation, blood, nutrients to muscles/tissues
(3) prevent injuries and
(4)allow ease of movement in everyday activities
(5) prevent bad posture, arthritis, low back pain
(6) it helps digestion
(7) better balance and..improved muscle coordination ....................

'' Stretching causes muscular relaxation, which encourages healthy nutrition directly to muscles; the resulting reduction in accumulated toxins reduces the potential for muscle shortening or tightening and thus reduces fatigue.''

in fact all animals have a basic instinct to strecth when waking and before going to sleep everyday

most health agencies say that one should do about 60% cardio and 25% strength and 15% flexibility or 15 mins 4 times per week

and always always have at least one days rest from strength training after every session otherwise the muscles cannot rejuvenate, repair and build stronger and you will get tears
