Duncan GoodHEW was the UK Breastroke champion...our best most recent Butterfly swimmer was James Hickman.
Butterfly is now taught to all ages and abilities. It is part of the National Teaching Plan, and the basic skills are introduced at Level 1...5 year olds...if not before!
The fundamentals of the stroke should be quite easy...it's just frontcrawl, but with the legs and arms going simultaneously. The difficulty is maintaining the stroke, because it does take extra effort to clear your face from the water in order to breathe...which is why everyone thinks it's so difficult!

At 29, you are able to easily learn butterfly. that's the toughest stroke to swim, yet once you get it down it could have been nicely worth it. as long as your instructor takes his time and components the right technique, it is going to be a relatively small venture to income. i've got been swimming butterfly competitively considering that i replaced into 8 years previous, and it is not as undesirable as human beings make it out to be. i could advise you learn, on account this is an incredible stroke, it keeps you in shape lots extra effectual than the different strokes, and it easily feels large to end a solid butterfly swim.

Um I can... and so can all of my teammates... and all fo the kids I coach... and all of the kids I get in competitive readiness classes... and anyone who swims for a USA Swimming sanctioned team most likely can, barring injury... So like someone else saiud, it's not a minority thing or a mysterious talent, it's a swimming stroke anyone can learn if they want to.
