Why does my VAIO display a small screen when I play games in full screen and in a resoloution of 800 X 600?

I tried increasing the screen size in-game and it worked... but that made the games laggy and slow.

The desktop is normal though, it fills the whole screen.

Your game is dropping the screen size to make it playable.
