Your grandmother was a girl once, and would remember what it is like to be your age and to have your period and not wanting to talk to people about it. She probably also understands about period pain. You might be surprised if you give it a go and talk to her. Maybe you are not taking the right sorts of pills for your period pain problem. Whatever it is, you need to do something as what you have done so far is not helping. Please give your grandmother a try. The sanitary products these days might be different to what she had in her day (she probably would have some good stories for you), but what periods are like probably hasn't changed. Maybe she hasn't talked to you about it yet because you haven't mentioned it or that you are having pain problems. If you have no luck with your grandmother, try a friend or her mum or sister, or a kindly lady at the chemist. But, at least give it a go with your grandmother. Remember, she was your age once and would not have forgotten and I would say she really does love you and would help you out. It might make you two closer too. I hope you can find some help so you are not alone on this. Good luck.

Hiya. listen there is nothing to be ashamed or worried about. firstly even your grandma has had periods so she should understand. I understand that you don't want to tell anyone as you may feel that it is embarrassing personnel etc, but it really is a way of life. I remember when I first started and I was buying sanitary products and a couple of guys from school saw me i thought I was going to die!!!!! now I just laugh, do you think they even noticed even if they did they would probably be more embarrassed!! with regards to the pain, if you haven't had sex then it is unlikely to be anything more than just periods pains, however they are others ways aside painkillers that are very effective in controlling 1 the pain and 2nd the period itself (i.e. how heavily you bleed etc) but they must be perscibed by a doctor. What about a sexual health clinic do you have 1 of those nearby? they can help and most have a very strict confidentiality policy to encourage young adults like yourself to come forward. But honestly either way don't suffer in silence anymore it is not worth it, especially as it can be so easily dealt with. Good luck

Honestly they won't be angry at you not telling them, they will probably be mad at themselves for not knowing so don't worry about telling them
You can go to a male doctor too, they all have the same training and often (in my experience) they can be more sympathetic. GO TO THE DOCTOR, and tell your grandparents why, dont' forget they were your age once too and all women go through this
In the mean time, try feminax to control the pain, is the best one I've found and is specifically for period pains, this is not instead of going to the doctor, you need to do that as well, you need to tell people around you what's going on and not a bunch of strangers on the internet. You can't go through life keepin gthings to yourself and only you can change that, you say you feel alone but you're not reaching out to anyone so how do they know to help you?
big hugs, you'll be fine

You really must tell someone about the pains you are getting. I can understand why you dont want to talk to your male doctor but, believe me, he has seen and heard much worse in his time as a doctor. Is there a nurse at the doctors practice you can see?
Failing that you go to a well Woman clinic, they are in all areas and deal with only womens ailments
I'm sorry you cant confide in your gran though, she could help put your mind at rest and maybe even go with you to the doctors if you need moral support. I bet she would be so sad if she read your question and found out that you couldnt talk to her.

Why is it that when we are young we think we are the only ones who know about sex etc. How do you think you got here?
Talk to your grandma, heck she knows all about this stuff. Like someone else said, she is looking after you = she cares about you.
Worry always makes these things worse. The sooner you do something the sooner you will have answers.
What is it you young folks say? JUST DO IT.
If for some reason this does not work out - try talking to the school nurse, and aunt an older cousin.
I wish you well

Well the pain is normal. But you can get special tablets for period pain which work much better.
As for telling your grandparents... I think you should. Remember they were teenagers once too! I really doubt that your Grandma wouldn't understand, after all, she's been through it all before as well. You don't need to tell her it's been going on for a year either.
However, if you really don't want to talk to a teacher at school or a close friend. (Maybe a teacher or one of your friends mums can take you to the doctors to get special tablets.)
Good luck anyhoo. :)

don't you have a girlfriend who has also started her period.
Just tell your grandparents they wont be mad, it happens to all us girls and it is aweful. Your grandparents should know that you will be starting your period soon (well in your case you have already). Go to the doctor and ask them to put you on the pill, it helped me with the pain which by the way you will get use to. Fill a hot water bottle and put it on your stomach, that really helps. Good luck to you.

Sorry to hear that your in a lot of pain but you need to go to a doctor sooner rather than later. a doctor can prescribe you something for the pain maybe or give you advice as to which supplement you can take. It may seem like a big deal but you need to face going to doctor and trust me they will understand.
