My brother is the only leftie out of five kids. Your hand may smudge ink, but he always got one of the best seats at the table so he wouldn't elbow anyone. I have always loved his handwriting!
Here are some suggestions to help you with your situation. They are links to websites that lefties have developed to assist with writing:

Well, I'm a lefty too and I don't have this problem. I often write with just the ball of my wrist on the page. If your problem is from smudging while writing, I suggest maybe waiting until the previous line dries to continue. But try a faster-drying ink if your hand is comfortable with the way you're currently holding the pen.

It doesn't matter. Just keep writing how you are comfortable. My handwriting looks left-handed too, but I'm right-handed. We are a very unique group of people. I personally like being different and not conforming to what people think is "the right way". Just remember that there is almost always more than one way to do the same thing.

Write with a pen that does not smudge easily or dries quickly. Also, try not to use mechanical pencils. These pencils smudge ALOT. Or you could just use the computer to type. ;)

hey there....
im a leftie also but the trick is to use a pen that dries up quickly & also u have to not let your hand slide over the writing but rest it above or below the line that you are currently wiritng...
btw... i can only write with my left hand...for all other activities, can only use my right hand or foot.... not ambidextrious though...can't write right handed

You could wear a glove of some sort. Or learn to write backwards. ;-)
