If there weren't so many frigid and "morally pure" women in society, would there be less prostitutes?

OK we all know there are a lot of women in the dating world who do not have sex, and say they are waiting for marriage. On the other side, there are also a lot of married women who are frigid, who don't enjoy sex and don't like to give in or don't put much effort into it when they do.

Now, the actual figures are nearly impossible to determine, but from what I've seen there are a lot of "goody two shoes" type girls/women out there, much more than guys. In my experiance I would say about 25%-33% of women are this way, and guys it is less than 2% So that leads to a lot of unsatisfied men.

Do you think womens reluctance to have sex is the cause for female prostitution? If the general female populous were more open to sex across the board do you think that would lead to a decline in the number of prostitutes?

For the record, I am happily married, and my wife is anything but frigid, that's one of the reasons I'm so happy lol

Possibly, but I doubt it. From what I've seen, a lot of the people going to prostitutes are the ones who are either already married or in otherwise sexual relationships and are looking for something different to spice things up, as well as the single men who simply want easy sex that they do not have to work for in the form of flirting and chatting people up and all that.

I just think that prostitution will always flourish, regardless of women's sexuality. I mean- think of the Victorian era, when husbands could demand sex from their wives and get it, no argument put up- prostitutes were still alive and kicking. Their allure is varied- they aren't just the next best thing when other women say no, but rather they may represent naughtiness, dirty sex acts that you don't want to or can't do with other women in your life, being able to have sex where you don't have to think about the other partner's pleasure (as you often have to do with those you love and care about), quick, easy sex, whatever.

I don't know- it's hard to answer this question, but I just doubt it.

Just the 'fact' that at the very least, " one person in ten has a different father than they think they do" and that is a very conservative estimate. Some studies go almost to 20%.
Strongly Suggests that women married unmarried or otherwise have sex with men other than their partner. We could probably say the same about men but.. we are talking about women here eh?
Women were never meant to be monogamous and either were Men.. it just suits our society ( and our ego's / insecurities) to play it that way just untill the day it doesn't work anymore.
So I guess your experience is vastly different than mine. Given that I have never had sex with any other person whilst maintaining a relationship, I may be in the minority.
Prostitutes? you are talking only about female prostitutes I guess.
They fill a gap in peoples sexual desires which must have an infinite variability given the ads I've seen. So I guess the wife / gf, bf, hubby, brother sister mother father aunt uncle.. just does not fulfill some peoples needs, and they are willing to pay for that fulfillment.

Economics tells that the equilibrium is where "Supply meets Demand".

You're only focusing on the "Supply" (prostitutes). The other important component is "Demand" ... so IF MEN were MORE "Morally Pure" then there would be less prostitutes.

Psychologically speaking the man's diminishing morals is a basic "sickness" like an alcoholic. Fuel this with "Images" (which is crack cocaine to the afflict man) and you've got disaster. The "Images" don't even have to be provocative or sexually illicit. The mere image of a beautiful woman makes some men go temporarily insane ... so how many commercials advertising shampoo, cars, or shaving cream use images of great looking women??? I heart of a phenomena where some men see these women and their fantasy is so deep that they actually feel the satisfaction of "having" her (sexually) ... from here it's a slippery slope where anything can spark a desire which makes him just like an alcoholic ... can't stop at one ... doesn't understand how it's hurting anyone ... prostitutes ... porno ... beastiality ... other sexual devient behavior ...

Which these all harm his relationships with real women; his grandmother, mother, wife/ girlfrined (if he's that lucky), sisters, daughters, and co-workers.

Prostitution has very little to do with 'getting a woman to have sex". Many guys can go into a bar and do that for the price of a few drinks. And married people are having more sex than anybody, contrary to popular belief. The availability of premarital sex never did much to lower the number of prostitutes.

Men pay women for sex for two reasons:
1. They have some "special needs" and don't want to be judged for them.
2. They pay the woman not for sex, but to never call him again after having sex. This is how quite a few single guys prefer it, and at least the ones who visit prostitutes are *honest* about it.

I think there will be less prostitutes if there were lesser sex -hungry men and if poverty isn't there. It's just like business. There will be less supply if there was lesser demand. But since demand for easy sex is high (high percentage of male customers), poor female prostitutes are here to stay and make money of insecure guys who can't have decent sex with the women they truly want to be with. Female prostitutes are also a result of lack of self-respect and self-esteem. A sign of lack of education and opportunity for another means of living. I think they work both ways. Men who patronize this kind of service lack self-respect too.

I believe women can live without sex, and women who refuse to have senseless sex really know what they want. Men who always seek for sex are just looking for a distraction, a way to release something that they think would make them feel more manly. Ever heard of masturbation? hello. it's healthy and safe. it is accepted. Men don't have to Fool women just to relieve yourselves. And it's Free.

It also depends on what country or culture you're coming from. It is clear that if it is a less developed country, there are definitely more prostitutes. In developed countries, it's hard to find because they may act like prostitutes, but need not to be paid...because they are more liberal.

On Frigidness: If your woman is frigid to you, you must be doing something very wrong. You don't know how to make her want you. Or you don't really want to "want" her that badly that you have to look for a new "meal" to taste.

25-33% of women are goody two shoes you say? Then you must be hanging around the wrong bunch of women! There is nothing wrong with being moral and sexually active at the same time. Yes, it is possible. I think another factor here is the Catholic upbringing. Do read more about it so you will understand the diversity of beliefs toward sex.

Women's reluctance to have sex is not a cause of prostitution. If we're saying we just want women to be more open to sex all over the world, then you're just degrading the value of women. You do have a mother and/or sisters, right? In this kind of "open to sex" world of yours, you will have an all prostitute-country, minus the payments. There goes your celebration. :-)

Nice one. Very provacative. I believe it is a very complex question with no simple answer. However, you are totally on to something. One extreme (frigidness) leads to an increase in unsatisfied demand (hence prostitutes: sex overproducers). Of course it is where the supply of prostitutes meets the demand that price is determined. Also, slutty girls may be a response to "goody two shoes" to some extent. It's all about equilibrium, and a tendency for society to attempt to reach it. You should develop this further, make a graph and present this via powerpoint!

I looked into it (since I thought it would be a great profession to get into) but something like 95% of all male prostitutes are hired by other men so I dropped that idea quickly. And I assume that atleast 4% of that 5% of women that hire men for that are not the type of woman you want to sleep with anyway.

while some guys may visit prositutes, they dont really want to mary one. They would rather have the goody two shoes for their wife and the mother of their children.

From my experiance, very few women are honestly frigid.
Wanting to make sure of their choice before they have sex doesn't make them frigid. Often times they want it just as much as the man, the only difference is that they possess a little self control and know that in order to get what they want, they cant be giving it up to every tom,dick and harry.

Firstly I think you are confusing women who have sex for money and provide a service for money - and (a lot of money) depending on the woman and the service and whether she works for a brothel or on the street and a good time girl. A good time girl will have sex for fun and be entertaining and fun to be around because she likes sex and companionship and its a way of relaxing. A lot of women however have little time for being good time girls as they study or they are concerned for their health with AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases about. Married women after the passion has died down really have no time for sex as they are too busy budgetting, running households, getting up in the middle of the night for sick or grizzly children, helping children with homework, cooking, cleaning and not to mention paid work in many cases. They are too worried and too busy to think about sex and pleasure.

Further sex work requires no qualifications and limited looks. Also many women working in the sex industry suffer from post traumatic stress disorder or have come from some sort of abuse.

Another reason why there are quite a few prositutes opting for that work, its easy and does not requires a lot of effort or committment and is flexble with hours for single parents.

Men will always be tempted to use the services of a prositute or pick up a good time girl simply because no matter how obliging the wife is they always want variety. its a fallacy that men will be with one woman for ever simply because they themselves will admit they feel men are naturally polygamus. Who knows.

However, yes I do think women need to be much more sexually interested. But then on the flip-side the men they have met or are married may not be fulfilling them sexually either. It's a two-way bargain.

Women don't mind giving as long as they are getting something back. Men CAN be very lazy lovers and lazy partners in many ways... but then they often feel they deserve the aforementioned woman.

Go figure.... Simply stated: Both partners need to work at a sexual relationship.

Prostitutes are just virtual porno. Sex in a relationship is completely different. Men and women either want that, and will work at it, or not. Lazy, unimaginative men go to prozzies.
