Yes I agree. After all writing is but an expression of words -written down. Speaking is the expression of those words - spoken. Basically it's the same - they are just 2 different mediums of expression - writing and speaking.

Ciao

Absolutely NOT. I am a good writer, or so I've been told, but I' absolutely crowd-shy and completely tongue-tied in public, except when I'm with cmy close friends (in which case I'm a hoot.) I even told them at my job that I'd do ANYTHING but the most I could handle in the manner of public speaking was a VERY small training on a computer system INHOUSE and NADA MAS.

These are two different qualities. As for as knowledge is concerned, it is commonly needed for both. but it is not necessary that a good writer would be a good speaker. For a good speaker fluency in speaking, self confidence, facing a gathering, body language and face expression are required.Stage fright is also a problem for a speaker. where as good writer may not needed anyone of these.He/she may write at a lonely place.an article or essay etc.

I think that if you are a good writer, then you would rather express your feelings with yourself, like a diary. So I don't agree that a good writer makes a good speaker because a speaker is normally quite confident, and they will tell all. So these two are quite different.

No. I do not agree that a person who is good at writing is necessarily a good orator or vice versa.
Firstly i think that many people find it easy to to put down their thoughts on paper but cannot reproduce the same in public and conversely a person who can easily put his/her thoughts in words cannot put it down on paper.
moreover i believe that to write you require certain creativity in addition to good language skills to keep the reader engrossed and also to be a good orator you require good facial expressions, eye contact, confidence and most importantly a clear voice

No I don't agree... I am a trainer in a call centre. People who can speak well, are not necessarily the one's who can write as well. Personally, I have noticed my creativity diminishes while writing whereas while I am talking, I can think of a lof of ideas. Writing slows me down.

No. I disagree ... There is a way to express everything & if u r good in writing that doesn't mean u'll be good in speaking. It may or may not be........ not necessary!!
