I live in New York and have that $14.99 Verizon Broadband DSL.Not sure if this affect what type of router I'd need but just thought I should include it.I have 3 devices I'd like to always be online (My laptop,PC and xbox 360) but since I dont like having to keep switching my ethernet cable I mainly use my laptop.

If possible,I like a router that would the following devices always online via wi-fi (in order of priority) :

Laptop (windows vista basic)
xbox 360
PC (xp)

I recently bought the laptop and it has "Dell Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini Card (54Mbps)".Does that mean its good to go for wireless right out of the box,or I'll need to purchase something else?

And on a lesser note I'd also like to use these devices thru wi-fi also(just not sure how many devices can be running at the same time using 1 router)

Wii
DS
PSP

Finally I'm looking for a router that has decent speed, strong signal and very few drops. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you

the dell wireless 802.11 , is basically a capture card for a wireless (wireless fidelity) signal , you will need a transmitter , or a router to pick up the internet , and to broadcast it everywhere or.. the card in your computer can also transmit , if you are connected to DSL , but you will have to go into the settings for your wifi card to make a wi-fi connection , this can go to any device which has the potential to grab wireless signals

All routers are ok simple as that
The majority of the routers sold are two brands- linksys and dlink
Linksys is the premium brand but the current Linksys g routers have been made cheapened and are not that good
The other major brand is Dlinks which is a retail promoted brand. I can never figure out the reason for its great popularity.
Big box stores frequently have routers on sale as a good draw to get computer buyers in their store ( to sell them computers or accessories with extended warranties )
All router brands are good.
The major issues with wireless routers are to change the channel from the default channel of 6 to another channel due to interfernce from neighbour's wireless routers.
Channel 1 and 11 are the two next best choice to try.
Secondly make sure the router is high and in an uncluttered area.
