So its a move that is complete opposites. I am moving from rainy puget sound..Wa state, to Nevada, close to vegas. I was just wondering on some of the things i might need to know before leaving.
I am used too 200 days of rain, moving to 5 days a year. IS that going to affect me at all, like in a weird medical way? Will it affect sinuses or anything like that? Also elevation at my home in wa, is close to 70 feet. The town i am moving too is 2710...IS that going to make a difference. I realize these are all not very important, like a wait and see till you get there, but i was just curious. What can i do to prepare myself? I have been working on getting a nice tan before i go down, honestly, so i wouldnt burn my *** off. But what else could i be doing?
Also the heat down in Nevada, is a dry heat? I cant really remember. i went to vaca there a couple times. But of course never lived.
Anyone have any suggestiongs?
Dont just try and get two points either...Thanks

I live in Vegas and you are going to go through a huge adjustment period, get lots of allergy medicine there is lots of pollen here. Be prepared for the hottest summer ever if you are coming this year, I love it but it took some getting use to, drink alot of water, buy Oil of Olay Quench lotion you will need it. There is tons of things to do no matter what time of day, lots of cute boys and tons of great restaurants. The heat is very dry here you need to have Carmax for your lips, Infusium 23 moisture for your hair or it will dry up fast. Its lots of fun but very very hot.

I can't say if the weather change will affect you, but all the sunny days might just make you happier in general. Besides the summer heat Vegas weather is mild with beautiful clear skies on most days.

As far as getting a tan, I wouldn't worry about that too much. If you come in the summer you'll have a tan in no time. Just be sure to wear sunblock & drinks lots of water. Don't just drink it, carry with you whenever you go out When the temps get up to 100 degrees I would not be outside in the middle of the day. It's best to go out early morning or evenings. The heat in Vegas is dry, very little humidity, but there is alot of pollen and dust so allergy medicine is a good idea.

If you have a car make sure the AC is in top working order. There is alot of construction on the highways so make sure your tires are good too.

Also Washington is very green, Vegas is the desert. If you have any attachment to lush greenery I would reconsider. Vegas is in the midst of a drought. There are watering restrictions & restrictions on how much grass you can have. So if you're moving into a house, just be mindful of your watering days....they will fine you.

Well you should prepare for altitude sickness. My sister took 3 months to get used to living in Colorado coming from Chicago. They might be able to give you something for it at a Dr's office. My other sister lived in Arizona for a while and she said the dry heat is a little weird to get used to it, but it is more comfortable then humid heat...but it is waaayyyyy hotter! Prepare for new types of bugs too!

Nevada is a desert, during summer time the temperature is known to get up to 110 degrees in the shade, and also since it being in the desert, its dry heat, and theres hardly rain here, but when it rains it rains. I wouldn't worry about getting a tan before you get here, because you'll get one before you know it over here. to prepare yourseld, get chap stick, a lot of bottle water, and alot of summer clothes, shades, and for your tan, swim suit, and sun tan lotion. Welcome to Las Vegas

You know I moved here from Olympia Washington. I wasn't used to the heat and I think that wiped me out. I never had any allergys but it was well worth the months of heat to get out of mold infested washington
