i like old sci fi movies from the atomic age (50s) like earth vs. the flying saucer, godzilla, it came from beneath the sea ect. is that one of the things that makes someone or me, a nerd?

I think that the only thing that makes someone a "nerd" is if they are ashamed to admit who they really are.You like what you like! Be proud of it. Find other people who enjoy them also, or teach some friends to appreciate these movies like you do.

Nobody should have to conform to others to be "cool". Who has the right to say, "This person's a nerd and this person is not?" Nobody does. Just enjoy! Be yourself!!

Hi.Of course not .Some of those early Sci Fi. movies are actually more enjoyable than the over computerized ones of today.It was much harder to make a movie with special effects back then .A lot of trick photography was used and although some were a bit corny they were enjoyable to watch They must have been good for them to be remade again.(War Of The Worlds,The Blob, The Thing ,The Fly,and Steven Spielberg's remake of When Worlds Collide)

I don't have a favorite but here are some to check out: Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) Psycho (1960) - I know this barely meets your deadline but still a great movie Rear Window (1954)

how about "Them!" with the giant ants? a classic! i like all of those types too, the hokier the better. ever see "Plan 9 from Outer Space"? it's considered the worst movie ever made. absolutely hysterical!
