He says that they have done so much in history etc. What do you think? Good with money, yes. Only because they have been shunned from every society and civilization in history, and have had to learn how to live on a tight budget. I'm not biased, just what I have been taught in school.

What do you think?

Your fiance's assertion is unfounded and biased. What you were taught is poppycock, based on a stereotype.

You both need to get out more.

Well now: traditionally these people have been forced into certain trades (diamonds and finances) because they've been good at it, traditionally through the years.
If you follow history through the years from the time of Jesus and the temples that's when the Jews (Hebrews) changed monies for the peoples from other lands. They were chosen for this task because no one else wanted it. They had Guilds or Unions, that people belong to and held to these very vigilantly. One man could not go into another mans work. This was the way a job was handed down through time. A guild.
And so, the Jews always did the money changing or "banking" as we know it today. Not just smart. We have the "Brick masons" "The carpenters" and etc.

Looking at the bigger picture I think it can be well argued that most religions tend to try to put 'society' first as opposed to the individual and/or family; some dictionaries go as far as to defined Socialism and social welfare as a practical form of Christianism. This was perhaps an evolutionary advance that was required when population(s) got to a certain size.
My understanding of Judaism is that it is fundamental to it's teachings to put family first always rather than as (Jesus recommended) trying to see the world as family and all people as children of God. This gives them a distinct advantage in business because they are playing as a team bound by blood & religious ties against a much more disparate opposition. There are however horrendous disadvantages to setting your people up as 'the chosen ones' and disseminating beliefs of being superior to others; inevitably persecution by those being looked down on being the worst and most inevitable. If your fiancee can't see the truth at least explain to him why he should keep his mouth shut so as not to add to the pool of hate on both sides. Minorities that discriminate against the majority will always do well in the short term but the price can be very high.
