How hard is it to find a rental with terrible credit and background?

Had a breakdown, ruined my own life, trying to get it back and don't know where to start. Need a place to live. :( Are there any good services or places that can help me?

Try a nonprofit organization that works on housing issues. They might help. Also, I find that small places with only a few units are less likely to check credit references. Show up looking clean and neat and speak well, and they're less likely to check. Then don't screw up, because you may not get another chance. Make every payment early so you can establish that you're a good person.
